LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE!!!!!!!!!!This is an overview of an XJ I picked up about 8 months ago. This is a budget build that is extremely capable offroad for a good price. Price for everything including purchasing the Jeep is around 6500.00. That's around the price of a stock wrangler in similar condition. All new unused parts.

up to 35" you can use a tie rod from a v8 zj and get a plenty reliable steering. would probably be better for the budget too! nice xj!
@jnork5005
@jnork5005 8 лет назад
Thanks man, I plan on getting the Crown Automotive upgraded steering. From what I have read and understand it's pretty much the same thing as the ZJ steering with larger tie rods. Prolly going to be ordering it this week and do a video on how to install it.

Nice video! I have a similar bumper to that, but it looks like you welded a winch plate to your bumper correct? I’ve been thinking about doing that but haven’t seen anyone do it until yours and it looks better than I thought. I love the XJ! If you are ever out in Melbourne FL let me know.
@jnork5005
@jnork5005 6 лет назад
DCarter355 at first I welded a receiver in and planned to move the winch from front to back with a winch plate that would slide into a receiver. Then decided against it. Drilled holes in my bumper, cut up the winch plate and welded it slide to the front bumper with supports
@DCarter355
@DCarter355 6 лет назад
Yea I was thinking the same thing. Have you ever used the winch where it was pulling a lot of weight to where it was pulling the top of the winch forward? That would be my only worry. And did your engine temps go up with the winch blocking the grill?

The snorkels also help freeway gas mileage. It converts the Jeep to a cold air intake system. That's why we run them in the desert. ;-)

Why do you have the same shocks in the back as the front? And why are the bump stops so long? Asking because i am trying to figure out new bump stops because mine are rotting, and trying to figure out what lenght shocks I need. My Xj has the same lift as yours. Can you help me with that? Thanks in advance.
@jnork5005
@jnork5005 6 лет назад
Randy Anderson the shocks are the same front and back because my collapsed measurement was about the same. I knew the leaf spring suspension wouldn't have as much downward travel in the rear so I wouldn't max them out, so I made it easy and got the same length. The bump stops are so long because my tires are large and the purpose of them is to stop upward travel before the tire stuffs inside the fenders too far which will cause either tire or body damage. You will have to unhook your shocks, flex the suspension, measure, and give yourself about an inch more than you need of up travel. Say you measure where the shock mounts and at complete compression it's 17". Buy a shock that is 16" compressed and it'll give you a buffer zone so you don't bottom them out.

You listed just about everything but your front bumper. Where did you get it? I like the custom winch mount too.
@jnork5005
@jnork5005 8 лет назад
it's a Logan's metal 4x4 front bumper. complete 1/4" steel construction with 1/4" steel plate frame tie in. They have a website. I was going to make the winch removeable from front to back and changed my mind. ended up cutting up the removeable receiver and making it solid mount to the front bumper.

Nice xj! Which extended bump stop did you buy for the rear, and what vehicle did you source the brake lines from?
@jnork5005
@jnork5005 7 лет назад
I'm running the Crown extended bump stops that bolt on the factory location and I fabbed up a stop on my leaf spring perch. I'm using a rear brake line from a late 90s dodge Dakota. my front lines are from a 95 Chevy 1500. Check out the video on my page "How to Fit 35s on a Xj Cherokee" for more info on the bump stops.

Is the 4.0 as good as they say? Any problems?
@jnork5005
@jnork5005 8 лет назад
I think so, they have overheating issues but it's not the engines fault. On an XJ the coolant system has to be in top working order to keep it cool. If the radiator gets somewhat clogged it will overheat.
@lane2376
@lane2376 7 лет назад
Have you installed an SYE or is that something you have planned in the future? Had my '96 XJ for about three years now and now that I'm doing more research on suspension upgrades I've learned it's something a lot of people have had to do but not all.
@jnork5005
@jnork5005 7 лет назад
Lane Horne I have the hack and tap from Rubicon Express. It was something I had to do. I'm actually redoing it this weekend and going with an Adam's Drive shaft and SYE from Rough Trail
@lane2376
@lane2376 7 лет назад
I'm thinking about going with the SYE and driveshaft from Rough Country. I put 3" blocks on mine and have some noise coming from the rear now, but I'm hoping I can swap the blocks for a bastard pack and get the SYE this summer. I don't do very much off-roading, so blocks work to level it out for now.
