Jeepers Creepers is a 2001 horror film starring Justin Long & Gina Phillips. Featuring one of the most creative and interesting horror movie creatures I've seen in a while, I'm surprised I haven't seen the Creeper or it's films until now. So I guess it's now time for my reaction and first time viewing of 2001's JEEPERS CREEPERS!

After making a horrific discovery in the basement of an old abandoned church, Trish (Gina Philips) and her brother Darry (Justin Long) watch their routine road trip home from college turn into a heart-stopping race for their lives. Couple fun facts: 1.) If you look closely at the Creeper's eyes during close up shots, you'll realize that it's going blind. Meaning it already needed new eyes and chose Darry's because of what he saw in the House of Pain. 2.) The original ending involved a car chase and the Creeper's truck being blown up with Darry inside, leading to both being presumed dead. The final scene would have shown us that Darry was turned into the Creeper and will continue the reign of terror (test footage can be found of this scene without final wardrobe and makeup being done so it's a little rough looking). This scene would still be used sorta in the actual ending: to accomplish the effect of the Creeper having Darry's eyes, the director had Justin Long suit up as the Creeper and look through the butchered eye holes of a dummy made to resemble his corpse.

I love the ending because everything the creeper eats becomes a part of him. So he ate Darry’s eyes and the last shot of the film is the creeper looking the holes in darrys head wearing the eyes as his own

So fun fact! 👏 The start of the this film was based off something that really happened to a couple. They were almost run off the road on a highway by a guy in a big truck. They drove by an abandoned place (I can’t remember if it was a church or not) and the couple saw something weird. I think a blooded sheet. And they went back and found part of the sheet and called the police.

Even weirder is that it's based on the Unsolved Mysteries episode about that real event. If you watch that episode, you can even see some similar shots and things like that.

I just recently seen that. A true crime youtuber covered him. Before I knew the wife was the victim I was like yea her and her husband is creepy because of their eyes. But turns out it was just the husband.

After I watched this movie for the first time I thought about it and feel like the creeper took him instead of Trish, because he went into the basement and seen all of the people down there, and then the creeper burned down his “tropies” when he burned the church. And it said what ever part he eat of that person, becomes his so, I think he took him so he could see all of that through his eyes. But maybe that’s too deep lol.

Also if you recall, Trish wore glasses whereas her brother didn't, letting the Creeper know which of them had better sight. When I heard that, that's been one of my favorite movie details.

I also think it’s because Derry was just more terrified than Trish. Throughout the whole movie, she showed strength and fearlessness. Derry was completely traumatized by what he saw in that hole, and that deep fear made him irresistible to the Creeper. Even when the Creeper was running them off the road, Derry couldn’t keep his cool. Meanwhile when Trish was driving, she had the guts to run him over and kept it calm. She seemed more angry than scared.

100% agree with the explanation at the beginning. A movie's director doesn't take credit for everyone else's talent and contribution to the making of a movie It's similar IMO to supporting a video game. Support the developers, not the company behind the game

The old cat lady is played by a really great Oscar nominated comedy actress named Eileen Brennan. She's in the movie Clue (based on Cluedo as y'all might call it) as Mrs. Peakcock, a very funny 80s movie, featuring the incomparable Tim Curry. I highly recommend it as a reaction. A classic!

She's also in another great Neil Simon whodunit called Murder By Death, a gem that EVERYONE should see starring such greats as Maggie Smith, Peter Falk, Alec Guinness, James Coco, and Peter Sellers. I think Truman Capote might be in it too, or at least a character based on him.

Completely Agree. This is not for the Director. It's for the many people who poured their artistic contributions into something and it resulted into a great film. Feel the same for Roman Polanski, Michael Jackson, and other people who did horrific crimes but had collaborations with others who did not do horrible things.

Jeepers creepers is one of my favorite movies, my step brother showed me it when I was 12 or 13 and I was just hooked with how creative it was. Yes the director is a piece of crap for what he has done but the movie itself is very well made

I didn’t even know about it until recently. But yeah, puts this movie on a different light. He is the Creeper preying on kids/high schoolers, when he himself molested and filmed other acts with a 12 year old actor in one of his movies.

@@balkthor it's horrible how a lot of people in his position will just take advantage of someone so young and traumatize them for life. He along with others should be in prison for years on end. But in that saying it's not gonna make me hate this movie in anyway. It's a great suspense horror film that has great practical effects and I would still watch it again anytime. But just like patrick the man said, I support the movie, not the person who made it

This is by far the best of the 4 (in my opinion). So often do killers kinda get recycled but this was a whole new take on a "boogeyman". I did find the creeper funny in certain scenes but the idea of being able to regenerate, eating what he needed to replace was actually frightening.

I think Justin Long messed up the line about the creepers car plates. He says it's Beating you but it's actually Be eating you. Also wanted to add that I watched this movie when I was a child and I was absolutely terrified. The shot of Justin Long's Character with his eyes gone still gives me chills.

The second one is absolutely great. We see the creeper throughout the movie and focuses on how it picks its victims. Its more suspenseful than the first but really good.

I love how dated this movie looks. The scene when they’re driving past the church as he’s carrying the body to dump down the shoot and he sees them, gives me chills still. I remember that part was in the trailer back in 01. My aunt went to see this when it came out, and, being the fledgling horror fan I was, I made her tell me about it… yeah, she scared the shit out of me. Then when I finally saw it a few years later.. I remembered everything she’d said as I was watching it, but it wasn’t scary at all (except for the scene I mentioned earlier). Suffice to say, I felt super dumb. Even though I was a kid, but thats no excuse.

The strength of the victims plays into the creepers motive alot. He remains immortal by taking his body parts from his victims. Break a foot? Eat a foot. Eyes got cataracts? Eat some eyes. Got shot in the chest? Eat a heart.

I remember watching this when I was 9 or 10 with my best friend at my house, at that point my mum was petrified of horrors and refused to watch any but happily let me sit and watch them 😂 we sat laughing the whole way through because of the tension then my mum walked in when he was eating the officers tongue , I’ve never seen someone look so terrified in my entire life 😂 she bolted out of the room while we enjoyed the entire movie start to finish without flinching 😂 funnily enough it’s now one of my mums favourite movies now that she’s not a softie anymore 😂

OMG YES! At 9:42 I also saw someone in the window behind her!! I've never noticed it before until this and then you said it moments after I noticed! I'm glad you saw it too. I wonder if it's an easter egg and it was someone from the crew or something that got caught in frame that wasn't supposed to be? Or maybe the location they filmed at was truly haunted and that's an actual ghost in the background that was captured? That would be epic!

Jeepers Creepers is one of the greatest and scariest horror movies of all time. The story, performance's, music, images, astomphere, tension, and cinematography was absolutely and positivity horrifying and terrifying. 😱😰 It was such a nail-biting and intense thrill ride as it kept me on the edge of my seat. 😱😰 Jeepers Creepers is definitely and completely a great addition in the horror genre as he will make a excellent horror icon. 😍💯😎👍 To this day the ending still gives me chills and goosebumps 😱😰 and I still watch it and I consider it a classic. It was decent. It never gets old. 😍💯😎👍

Fun fact the first two were filmed 15 minutes from my house. The school busses (multiple were used) were bought from my school district bus depot. The roads were blocked during filming but we were in school at the time so our rebellious selves would park at a sunflower farm down the road then walk through the woods to check it out. The house/lair was a old abandoned church and became a tourist spot for people to stop and take pictures but they demolished it years before the third came out. Great content man

I would recommend watching part 3 next, then part 2 last. The reason being that part 3 starts right where part 1 ends, & part 4 ( Reborn ) starts where part 2 ends. Part 3 was made on a very low budget & it suffers in terms of some not so convincing C.G.I. but over all I think it's still a good movie. Part 2 has the biggest budget & as for "Reborn", Timo has proven he can do a lot with very little, so we'll just have to wait & see how it turns out. Nice reactions to part 1. :)

Noone but me seems to think Darry was skinned at the end. It looked like nothing but flesh to me, that's why we heard him screaming and ofcourse having his eyes removed. I could be wrong but that's what i always saw in that imagery of hearing him scream

I agree to boycott a movie over one person's actions makes no sense. Because a lot more people put their hard work into a movie other then that one person. There is one reason alone not to watch a movie that is if it doesn't interest you. Like I'm not going to watch Aquaman 2 but because I was never interested in the first movie.

Agree with your comments at the beginning about banning a movie because of one scandalous/felonious cast member. Despite the issues with some cast I hate that they are editing Mera out of Aquaman 2, and still plan to see the Flash. Movies made with people after their scandals tho...that's a whole other thing, they know what they are getting into. With all we learned about Cosby I would never go if they made LEONARD Part 7...
