Ha! Thank you my friend. I don't think he ever played it the same way twice. Or anything else for that matter;) This is my favorite version I've come across so far. Nuanced indeed. I'm just a huge fan and especially of some of the particular techniques he used here. That's actually me playing all the way til the end, I just pantomimed for the video shoot. Beck's version is about twice as long as what I've covered here and right beyond this point, he does a lick that just haven't been able to figure out (which happens a lot w Beck). Hence no part 2 so far;)

Hey man! Thanks for watching. I checked out the "Elite" Strats online and they look pretty dang solid to me. About the same price point as my particular JB Signature model, which is a 2014 that I bought for $1250 off of Ebay in 2015. I wanted it mostly for the roller nut and the floating whammy. I have a 1954 Strat that is not nearly all original;) I have the whammy bar on it against the body, so not floating. When you say ""This strat has "noiseless" p/u's"", I'm assuming you're referring to my JB? They are quiet and nice sounding pickups, but not what Beck himself uses (he uses custom wound). I'm guessing your Elite has the standard single coil pu's? I wouldn't think mine would necessarily make it any easier to sound harmonics, but not really sure. Mine are probably a little quieter. Another consideration if you're working on Beck's style is how the whammy bridge is floated. I have mine set up where it will go up a half step on the little E, a whole step on the B string, and a minor 3rd on the G string. That's how it is in this video. I have since read that Beck actually has his set up to float a Major 3rd on the G string.! Not sure if that's true, but I heard him play a lick or two that would corroborate that. Also, my JB model is not the Custom shop model, but the cheaper one. You can still get those for around $1500. It would prolly play pretty much the same as yours, except for the roller nut, which allows the strings to slide more easily than a standard nut. Also, it is not the same nut that Beck himself uses. He uses a Wilkinson roller nut that is no longer made. They are very rare these days and I haven't been able to find them at any price. Mine also has locking tuners, which I LOVE! So I would say that if you're interested in learning a lot of Beck, it might be worth your while to trade your Elite in for the Beck Sig model, but not totally necessary!! Bottom line though, it sounds like you really want one;) Thanks again bro!!

Thanks so much, Trevor! Those are indeed stock Noiseless pickups! Far as I know, anyway. I don't think Fender does anything special to them for the Jeff Beck Signature model. As far as amps, pedals, etc. I'm actually using a couple of plug-ins on this track. The first is a plug-in from Overloud called TH-U. I first got turned on to it thru my Slate Digital All-Access Pass subscription. I'm just too dang busy these days to fiddle with dialing in a tone from a real amp, not to mention it makes my dog freak out;). That's something I need to work on;) The TH-U pre-set I'm using is a Fender Bassman head and a '59 Tweed cab, with digital models of a Tube Screamer, RSS Compressor and a Tape Delay for pedals. The other plug is Guitar Rig by Native Instruments with their pre-set called "Jeff at Ronnie's". It's basically a Marshall fake Lead 800 with a matched cab. Also a Tube Screamer pedal. What I did was copy my guitar part on to 3 different tracks in Logic Pro, and instantiate 2 instances of TH-U and 1 instance of Guitar Rig. For the soft parts on the openings of each verse, it's just one track of the TH-U. When the track gets a little heavier, I unmute the other two tracks for a little dirtier, heavier tone. Took a bit of work, but it worked out okay. I also have a really long tail reverb bus that I'm running all 3 tracks through. Trying to emulate the long tail verb Beck has on the live version of this track. I plan to put out Part 2 of the breakdown this week or next. I appreciate you tuning in man!!
