I love that Ron is carrying the bass part during Jeff's solo improvs. And Jeff's solos are so very melodic.

Thank God that MI is finally putting out some of the amazing concerts that have happened there so they are not lost for future generations.

This must be in 1989 as I was there. Great times those! These guys are amazing musicians from whom I had the privilege to learn a lot. Thank you all!

Since this appears to be from the 80s is this Jeff East or West Berlin. Anyways he's a great bass player.

Ron is incredible.

Very impressive!! Berlin has such good note choice, in all the Jazz settings demonstrated here. Watching his right hand, he is not really a 16th note speed, player. He uses one finger then the next and often rakes with a hammer in left for fast runs, not repetitive alternating. Very different to Jaco, and probably something Jaco knew about, had on his radar.
