So having that appeal for that long should put you in the discussion as one of the best of the 21rst Century. Hip hop is probably the most culturally significant genre of the this century and Kanye has been arguably the most influential within hip hop this century. Also if you expand the idea of an artist to going past just the music to include how popular his Yeezy brand has become in urban fashion and also interviews and public attention through all of the controversies adds to his overall artist profile.
