A drum cover of "Last Goodbye" by Jeff Buckley from his 1994 album "Grace".
Matt Johnson's drum performances on "Grace" are impeccable and a great illustration of playing purely for the song.
His drum parts are very simple but totally in the pocket. Note how the very restrained use of crash cymbal provides lots of space in the mix and great impact when used.
From personal experience as a session drummer it is actually quite hard to play so sparingly, but recordings will always sound amazing when you can keep it as minimal as possible.
