Fuck that, Im 39, been skating since 96, seen a lot come and go. Jeff rips, the shit he does looks hard af, hes got skills and hes doing something different which is sorely needed in skating. He put a lot of work in to be able to do the stuff he does.

These two are some of the most real people in the “skate industry” they skate very well, but they present themselves genuinely as real people also and I love that, keep rockin homies, y’all are awesome people!
I think Jeff is right. People have an idea of how skating should look and when it doesn't look the way they want it to then they'll hate. Personally i like that skinny sort of nerdy rocker emo haired skate style that jeff has. Also his tricks are gnarly techy and clean.
Yo Jeff you're dope. People use you're style as an excuse to hate. Its because you're doing dope tricks that they can't do so they attack the thing they might be better at like skating fast. Also you're come up story is so relatable. You never had the dope skate park... you had the loading dock. Every kid has a basement, so they hate on you because they know they could have been you. I would never leave hate comments because that's just fucked, but Jeff did take some time to grow on me because of the style of hardflips and inward heelflips, and the tendency to time flip tricks to land at the same time instead of catching. I quickly came to respect him but skate culture drills style into your head pretty hard and that style of tricks isn't something we're conditioned to appreciate. Same thing with helmets really. It's good to protect your head but we all have some deep aversion to them.

Love the podcast. I've been watching jeffwonsong for yeaaaars. In my opinion, all the hate has been generated from a place of jealousy, and also Jeff's style is not traditionally what we think about when we think about pro skaters. The crazy tricks that he throws are so crazy that sometimes they suffer in style. When you do a quad flip down a set, there's no way your gonna be able to backfoot catch and bone that shit out. People have wayyy to high expectations. Amazing skaters both of you.

Skateboarding is skateboarding. Don't think what others think. As long you have fun. Don't get in others way. Be respectful towards each other. Also try to progress. Keep a positive mindset.
Its a combination of factors, as is the case often times in life when dealing with people. In his case, the skate community didn't understand how to appreciate his skating, he came up through the internet, and to be honest he never made an attempt to refine his skating after dealing with the criticism. I think if started catching some tricks with height and style in a traditional form he would be extra appreciated for the bizarre spazzy tricks he does than he already is

No hate because I only skate flat and ledges but I feel like 8/10 of his tricks are pressured including his Ollie don’t even know how that’s possible but go watch some of his videos and see

Come on, y'all have to be self aware. One of the main reason people are hating truthfully is because is his style of skating. He looks like he is about to fall down at 95% of the time he rides. He also doesn't catch most of his flip tricks, and doesn't have crazy pop to them either. Which i feel makes other skaters think they are better, not like it , etc. It's dumb for sure, cause dude can throw down and does some insane stuff and can pop and catch just alot of the tricks posted are the crazy flip tricks. When i first saw him skate i saw all of what i mentioned, still do, but i have grown to like it because its so sketchy and exciting. Yall have to stop think people without follwers, videos, or private profiles are beneath you or says anything about them though. Yall have alot of good stuff here , sprinkled in with nonsense, but that is what happens when you try and generalize any group of people.
