80s and 90s tie for me, they were incredible eras that were different but equally awesome. I remember Jeff driving an orange Taz car in the late 90s because it’s my favorite color and I thought it was cool.
This has been a really fun interview to watch because of some personal involvement on my part. Jeff Green would not remember me from Adam, but he probably will remember my son, Nathanael. Nathanael was hired by Steve Addington at PPC Racing going into the 2000 season. He began as the young kid at the shop who, among other duties, cleaned the bathrooms and moped the garage floor. Nathanael quickly became more and more a part of the team at PPC Racing with most of his involvement on the Jason Keller side of the shop during the first couple of years. In the end, he worked for PPC for seven years. Now for the fun Jeff Green part of the story. In this interview Jeff's Daytona roll over was mentioned. When my wife and I drove to North Carolina that March to visit Nathanael, he mentioned that he had a birthday present for me. I was quite surprised when he pulled from the closet a quarter panel from the Nesquik car with "Happy Birthday, Roger - Jeff Green- Daytona 2000" written on it. Not long after that, Circle Track Magazine did a story on safety with the Nesquik car in the air upside down on the cover. The quarter panel that is seen in the cover photo still hangs in my garage with the magazine next to it in a frame. I also have a picture of Jeff and I standing next to his car just before he climbed in for the race at Milwaukee. Yes, I had a Nesquik Chocolate milk in my hand ready to gulp down!
I met Jeff Green back at his Mooresville shop back literally the week they won the Xfinity Championship and were switching to Chevrolets.. :-D haha My Dad who passed away in 2014 was big into going to the race shops. He thought the world of Jeff Green. This guy came out and talked to Dad Mom and I for conversation and take pictures. I remember Jeff telling dad they couldnt catch the Chevrolets and yet won the Championship in a Ford in 2000. Couldnt have met a nicer guy except maybe Ricky Rudd who I met numerous times because I was a Tide Ride kid in the 90s. This was all after watching the last race in Atlanta 2000 of your Dad Dale Jr. Did get to attend your Dad's final last full race.
Never knew I was a Jeff Green fan...Jr you have showed me so many people that I became a new fan to and thank to the web I can go back follow thei career.
I had the good fortune to meet you Dale in Phoenix after you one your 2nd championship and meet Jeff Green at a event at the Pomona Fairplex in 2000. Thank you both for a great experience
This is really cool, I have always liked the Green brothers. Good, Fair racers. My friend had a late model in the 80's and the Green brothers were always some of the best!
It’s a shame that fans only remember him as a backmarker driver who couldn’t “do anything” in Xfinity. His prime career in the Busch Series deserves that attention, period!
I dont remember him for that. I remember him running around in that Nestle Quick car putting a whooping on everyone and winning the championship by a whole lot
It's kinda funny how Jeff describes them as the Cleanex Car and the Dr Pepper Car, so the sponsor's of the cars are easily remembered 25 years later, even if nobody can remember who owned the car or the team.
I bought my first late model from David Green. Mark had been running the car as a late model before jumping to Busch. I’m thinking David maybe ran the car in some All Pro races before it became a late model. Best chassis I ever had and the only late model that I won multiple races with.
IMO, the year long championship is way more prestigious than the playoff championship. Yes I know it is that way in other sports, but for NASCAR... I feel like it would be running a marathon and then resetting the field in the last mile. A great sprint, but clearly not the winner.
why would that ever come up in a conversation with Jeff Green? If you wanna listen to people talk about the NHRA, then go find an NHRA podcast to listen to or watch.
Better than listening to DBC podcast, "listen", "obviously", "to your point" and TJ with everything being so "hard" and the drivers being "really good".
Jeff’s background is utterly disgusting. I hate hunting. I was really looking forward to this conversation with Jeff Green, but all that garbage in the background makes this unwatchable.
I’m in the league Jeff is in and he’s always competitive wish I could run more like him and would love to see Dale jr make an appearance in our arca series so I can run with him! That shoutout for elite is amazing I’m happy to be a competitor every time I can
I was really happy to hear about all what Jeff did. Really didn't follow him much. But knew of him. Very interesting career. I also didn't know that he and Jr were so close back then. Great interview. Got a lot out of it. Glad to know Jeff's history.
I’ve enjoyed watching all the Green boys careers back to KMS in Whitesville Ky. Thanks for making Owensboro proud ‼️ Now you need to interview David and Mark too.
Jeff is truly a great guy. I used to live in Owensboro and was one of his neighbors that he spoke of growing up (on Chickasaw Dr.). I lived a few doors down across the street, and he's exactly right when he talked about us "racing popsicles in the curb after a rain". Great memories from my childhood. I lived next door to Mrs. Potts, his grandmother.... and she was salt of the earth good people. Sad to hear of her passing, but I'm extremely impressed and surprised to hear that she lived to the ripe old age of 102. Thanks for having Jeff on, Dale, Jr., it's always good to know how he's doing and what he's up to these days. 👍
I always felt bad for Jeff. Going from great champion to expert valet and the all time last place leader. I'm glad RSS at least allowed him to run the Superspeedway races and show what the once great Jeff Green could still do.
Jeff Green was a great race car driver. His Brothers David and Mark were really good in the Busch Series(now the Xfinity Series). Jeff had a great NASCAR career in the Cup Series. I remember that Best Buy #66 that he drove for HAAS. He was a great driver. It’s good that you had him on your show. He’s a good one. You should get Scott Riggs on your show. He’s a good one too.
I live in the same area as Jeff. We have a mutual friend. I've visited his home a couple of times, and he's been to my place once. He treated me with the utmost respect. Super nice person.
I’m the same age as Jeff. 61. I quit late model racing 15 years ago. Not a day went by that I didn’t wish I was behind the wheel of a late model or hanging with the guys in the shop working on the cars. Blessed with grandchildren two years ago and that filled that void for me. Love being a grandpa!
You should get your feet wet in the RC dirt oval and or asphalt oval racing. It will fill the void of not racing the big cars as much and it doesn't require a charter lol.
