Wait what!? 1:49 "It would have been very easy for us to come up with This Godless Endeavor part II"....Why the hell didn't you then? I am a huge fan of Warrel's vocals but when I want to hear more vocally centered songs I would listen to his solo album. this is Nevermore. TGE & DHIDW & EOR had catchy/memorable songs that were also technical, "Final Product", "Acid Words" and "Sell My Heart for Stones" "I Voyager" "River Dragon". Why didn't Loomis see the "If it ain't broke don't fix it" appeal?
hahaha! I guess it's kinda hard to convey subtlety/cheekiness over written text :p I own that guitar too! You should totally try it out if you haven't already, what a beast!
He's amazing, when he plays he looks like he's gonna kill, eat and hate you forever. Scaryface! But right now I just wanna sit down and listen and smile. Polite guy!
Standard tuning on a 7 String is BEADGBE, to tune down one half step drop each by one semitone, so that would be A#D#G#C#F#A#D#. Same for a 6 string just ignore the seventh string. Think you were getting confused with one and a half steps.
Although I love this album (I have the collectors edition) just as i love the other albums, I really like my music complicated, and thats the single thing i liked about the other albums that was missing in this one... Still awesome :D
When I went to Jeff's house, He gave me like 5 of those picks and I never liked them at first and he told me to just keep using them and I would convert. After about 1 month, completely converted. We are the same way in how we change picking styles throughout leads kinda too. I kind of use a little of everything. A lot of legato/economy picking as well. Jeff is literally fucking perfect though. Even if he had a rough night and we're just sitting in his livingroom. Haha. Cheers
Atilla is a beast, he had Nevermore covers on youtube well before being part of the band aswell as gigging with Warrel on the solo material. Seriously check him out, his channel is "hellbounder86" and remember people its JEFF LOOMIS! saying atilla is good so take that in.
I agree - not to be biased as a guitar player or anything but I much preferred the whole sound in This Godless Endeavor than in Obsidian Conspiracy. Being 'more notey' isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I guess bands do change direction once in a while.
I've seen Atilla at Guitarcenter in hollywood. It was sort of funny, a random foreign guy with a cowboy hat talking to his bud in his foreign tongue. After he scoped out the guitarcenter decided to play one of the hellraisers then went to the evh's and blasted(loud as helll) out sum nevermore.
I'd go so far as to say it tops enemies of reality for me, and ALMOST even tops godless endeavor...final product keeps that their best album though, at least for me ;) Peace to all, give yourself a pat on the back for being awesome enough to love these guys \w/
Tonal clarity comes from the fingers assuming your guitar is intonated correctly and your frets aren't shit. It's pretty obvious that if you want better sound you buy better equipment... It's technique v. technology.
Lol I can't see how people take your comment seriously when you have a Jeff Loomis signature as profile pic, how can people be so close to screen and not see that?
