JEFF PORCARO recording for the legendary French singer CLAUDE NOUGARO with Mick Lanaro and Claude Gaudette. -Artist : Claude Nougaro -Name of the album :Pacifique
very interesting what he's saying in French: " Jeff Porcaro th drummer got to the studio with six different snares...it was like another culture, ir wasn't the engineer trying to match the best sound posible, it was the drummer who was able to find the best sound and had it in his mind"....or something like that
All-time great drummer and groove monster but his resume doesn't quite match up with either Gordon or Blaine, jmo. To me, those two were the LA session royalty.
My dad catched his drumsticks when Jeff saw him, he stood just before the stage 3 days in a row (Rotterdam) Jeff pointed to him and threw his drumsticks. Playing with them everyday, and if you think iam lying, i’m not. You can mail me and see them ;)
Why is it that there are only these one minute snippets of him...There needs to be someone who has hours of footage of Jeff In the studio...When is the damn movie going to be finished?
@@stananderson7103 I know his widow has held up the release of "Band Of Brothers"..I was looking forward to that film in the biggest way...Susan Porcaro Goings has hired a team of attorneys and stopped the film from being released...
@@groovekingmuzz2699 I really think she did it as a form of retribution because the family didn't seem to take her side in the lawsuit between her and TOTO ( Lukather and Paich ). However it seems she got Mike Porcaro's widow to take her side and you can't do a documentary about the Porcaro brothers with just Steve Porcaro. I read on a music website that Susan had made a "firm statement " about why she wanted no part of it and even stated that Mike's widow agreed with her. Wished I could find it and see it for myself. I think it sucks that she did that.
@@sassymessmess9110 Especially since she has more money than God. Jeff left them set up, the band did a memorial concert that generated about $400k, and she remarried to a mega-rich executive. As the saying goes, how many yachts can you ski behind?
No ! It's only that in the dvd of the making of the song "Pacifique" from French singer Claude Nougaro. www.amazon.fr/Claude-Nougaro-Collector-inclus-Audio/dp/B0009275ZM/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1489631531&sr=1-1&keywords=made+in+nougaro
@@ilovemovies725 I AM outside the USA and trust me: other than you wine and snail gobbling garlic-addicts nobody heard of that singer. French songs are extremely unpopular in the world outside France.
At the end, there's a little glitch in the time and Porcaro seems to be saying to the engineer "Nah, Man, not quite in the pocket..." Even the greats...
Both are legend in fact, Jeff of course, but claude too, at least in France, he was one of our best singer. the whole album "Pacifique" is fabulous, produced in parts in L.A by Bass player Bunny Brunnel (Chick Corea etc..). Lot of amazing guest on this album, not only jeff, Abe Laberiel, Peter Erskine, Ernie Watts !! All legends !!
The producer says : "During the recording session , Porcaro came in the studio with 6 different snare drums , just to get the right sound. The Sound engineer don't need to turn or push the button for the perfect sound....... Porcaro brint it." Pure Class... ;-)
And yet when all these greatest drummers are mentioned Jeff rarely is. They mention Bonham and Ringo Starr ....the latter is just a joke by comparison !
Samsgarden Well, i think they would more or less hate each other for what they stand for, since they sadly never would get deep into what the other one just stands for. Besides that Jeffrey was imho the much more attractive of them.
Ok? I'LL TRY AGAIN! Question: Why do people remember Neil Peart more as a drummer? Jeff Porcaro was a far superior musician. Answer: work ethic and priorities
Nothing in common, only two excellents musicians. You can't compare two differents ways of playing, composing, structuring the compositions. It's like comparing Rush and Toto... What's the game ?
