Interesting fact, his sheet music was filled with phrases like - “play your ass off here…”. What a groove - thank you for being around in my life time🙏🏼🙏🏼
No ProTools, no punching-in... this is when drummers were the MVP's in the studio! Gotta get it in a single take top to bottom. Careers were launched and careers were ended in short order.
@@mikehawk9461 Yes, it *can* be... but if you got called into a session you were expected to play perfectly. Having to splice a 2" multitrack tape with a razor blade was very rare. If they had to do that to fix your mistake you wouldn't be back.
He was very short framed, so that may be why he sat low. He talked about it in an interview in 1990. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LoGiRlNp1r4.html
The level of sensibility, conviction and clarity of purpose is unmatched, and the 2 and 4 is straight out of heaven. 💚💚💚 🎼 No pretense and no conceit, as a drummer he's complete... 🎶
Thank you Jeff for your art, I cannot even imagine how music could be now if he‘d still be alive. Thank you Hemuhemu for sharing this unseen footage in 2020 and keeping his legacy alive!
Yup, a pair of wash'n'wear black slacks, buttoned down white oxford long sleeved shirt, with cuffs rolled up just once...AND...his PERSONAL CAN for his Butts & Ash, right next door to the hi-hats & music stands. WHAT MORE CAN A NORMAL WORKIN' MAN ASK FOR...??? BolsaChicaRadio
So great having another clip of Jeff emerge! He’s just awesome!! Makes you realise how hard he hit ! Maybe that’s part of what gave him his sound? He’s sitting pretty low too . Awesome playing as ever from this drum master!! 🥁👌🏻❤️
@@kai326 Yeah. But, I think he only used it on a couple of songs. Like Calling Elvis, and some others. The kit on KOD was a Pearl MLX. I don’t know why I’m bringing this story up, but I remember hearing that Jeff turned down a $1,000,000 offer to tour with Bruce Springsteen, so he could work with Toto.
@@kai326 I know he did a lot of sessions for Japanese artists from 91-92, and others around the world like Ricky Gianco, Paul Young, B-52s, 10cc, David Crosby, Richard Marx. Juice by Junichi Kawauchi has some of my favorite drumming from Jeff.
Looks like Jeff is either on his way to a wedding, or just got back from one. Removes his suit jacket, rolls up the sleeves, and does that. 🔥 Left us much too soon.
