I saw him live and up close as a young teenager a few times in the mid 60's and have never forgotten the experience. He was briliant. You should listen to him sing "Sing a Simple Song". He was up there with the best.

Jeff St John is Aussie - he was great. Born with Spina Bifida. Unfortunately he passed in 2018 from an infection after surgery [he had a lot of surgeries throughout his life] he was 71 years old. So much voice from a sitting position. He left behind a daughter from his 1st marriage and his 2nd wife of many years. He was born in what a rough, working class, Sydney inner suburb. He spent most of his later life in Perth Western Australia.

Nice reaction! And yeah, this dude is phenomenal. I only recently found out about him in the last few years due to a Bon Scott documentary that mentioned he and his band Fraternity beat out 2 other acts in an Australian battle of the bands kind of competition. I tracked down the competition and was blown away by Jeff St John's performance. And Bon Scott was great too, but really, you watch that sometime and how can you pick one over the other? That led me to discovering him like you, Fool In Love just blew me away. Really dig his feel for funk and his voice. Sadly, both he and Bon are both passed on now but they both left all of us a huge musical treasure.

One summer he was playing on stages set up in the car parks of Westfield shopping malls across Sydney, I went to every one. He was still using walking sticks at that stage. Wendy Saddington was in the band too. Her version of Dylan's Just like Tom Thumbs Blues is terrific.

TEACH ME HOW TO FLY (1970) I think was his best hit song. Saw him live many many times. There was nothing like watching Jeff do wheelies across the stage in his chair. ❤ 👨‍🦽 Also a 3:35 minute clip from the documentary Rock and Roll Man, is worth a look. It is a visit and free concert at a school for disabled kids, it's very inspiring. Jeff St John - Big Time Operator - Performing at the Northcott School in Sydney in the early '80s.

Jeff StJohn ......now that's a voice.....the chair? Maybe Spineabifida, I seem to remember ....came from Perth WA? I saw him perform in 1978, a great gig and the dynamics of his physical performance was worth the price of admission alone. Was a double header with Madder Lake. (12 lb Toothbrush)

Well TMHTF only reached 11 on the Australian Charts. There were a lot of other great songs released at the time that sold more records. It was a cover of the US song released by Rotary Connection in 1968 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BLySpsGZvNU.html
