Glad to see you guys again. I love to hear how people modify their boats to better fit there needs. BTW, I've owned an appliance repair company for 25 years now. I do not live near the east coast but I'd be happy to offer any advice I can.
My wife and I like a perfect cocktail also. Most everything we drink goes in a Yeti cup. Small or large. No more drinks being watered down. Drinks stay colder so long. Plus none of your dock mates have any idea what your drinking. 😊
that's well put all kinds of boat for all kinds of people Maybe it would be hell if everyone wanted the same boat and the price got bid up to 8 mill. ha ha
Hi David and thanks! Our dishwasher is a Fisher & Paykel but we would encourage you to look at other brands. There are lots of options in drawer dishwashers and some that are commonly used on boats today (GE makes what we hear is a reliable drawer dishwasher). Let us know what you decide on.
OLOH has become one of my favorite channels. The M/Y ICW lifestyle may be one of those 'dreams I'll never see', so I can live vicariously through you guys. Cheers.
Boats are a collection of compromises but with amount of time we planned to spend aboard (along with the kind of cooking Tim does) we knew we couldn't live with a smaller fridge when we moved into this size vessel. Cheers Jason!
Thanks for that Tod. We think it’s interesting that our personal aesthetic is decidedly more modern but there is something about those classic lines that speaks to us. Cheers!
Hi AJ & Tim, Thanks for the awesome tour ! Love OLAH's classic "timeless" design, spacious layout & functionality . A beautiful looking yacht inside & out . Love your passion & the way you both work together as a team . God bless . Mark (Toronto) 💔🧡💛💚💙💜
I didn't catch the brand for the induction cooktop, could you send me that info.? My first induction cooktop had the same setting, as you mentioned, it keeps things warm with out burning them up. My current unit does not have that feature and I am very disappointed. Thanks for the info...................
Our pleasure! It's a Fisher & Paykel four-zone induction cooktop. We've had it on board for just over three years and it has performed flawlessly. We're really pleased with our choice and you'll find a link to the current version of what we have here: myoloh.com/the-boat Cheers!
You guys are the absolute best!!! If you are ever in need of any help near Madeira Beach FL on the west coast, please let us know, would be glad to help in any way possible! Or stop in for a few cocktails!! Keep up the great videos, and please reach out to me first if, and when you guys ever decide to sell your amazing vessel!!! Have a great day and be safe!
You guys have a truly beautiful boat with an amazing layout. I admire the way you meticulously maintain OLOH. You’re always doing it right, staying on top of all systems, researching your options for replacement items and various upgrades and thinking things through… the aft galley in particular, is a great feature that is both extremely functional and ideally placed. Love it!! If you ever find yourselves in the market for a new vessel, by all means, please let me know
What a beautiful boat you guys have and love your galley upgrade refrigerator. Your videos are always so well made and interesting. That is why I am always looking forward to your next one. BTW I'd take one of your OHLO drinks anytime. Cheers!
I was so delighted by your tour…especially the galley. Can you remind me what is the ‘ringing’ the bell signify? We have a GB 49 classic and I visualize a stand up LG frig but it seems anathema to the GB classic style. What were the LG engineers thinking when it came to programming the ‘knock knock’ feature?? Looking forward to touring more of your lovely vessel.
Hey Catherine - the bell rings whenever it's time to make a toast and let the cocktails start flowing. Needless to say, we have a pavlovian reaction every time we hear a bell 😄. Having a standup fridge is great on a boat like ours but we think a set of drawer fridges would be a really nice upgrade that could possibly work well on a classic 49. Perhaps they could hide behind that cool wood fridge door or you could have the drawers outfitted with the classic wood panels. As far as the "knock knock" feature, great in concept but flawed in execution. We have learned that it's a fairly common issue. But it's always a conversation starter!
We’re about 2/3 thru the loop. We started in Holland, Mi 2018 and got to the Chesapeake. We are just resuming this spring and should cross our wake in September
I've been mulling over for TEN years how to remodel my home kitchen. Space was a premium but I wanted it to be a full-fledged "chef's" kitchen. After much debating over the cooktop, and where I could possibly put an oven - this wall, or that wall, or under that counter, etc. I came across an article on kitchen design and it struck me with one simple statement: separate ovens are the least space-efficient thing you can have in your kitchen. The old standby all-in-one oven-range cooktop is the most space efficient appliance. And sure enough, once I factored a standard range into my kitchen, everything else made into place. So perhaps consider putting a standard oven/range in the kitchen, and relocate the dishwasher. In fact, if you don't mind giving up that little desk to the right of the fridge, perhaps you could fit a standard dishwasher there instead.
Without a doubt another delightful video from the OLOH crew!! Really like your back deck...especially the way the platform is designed. How convenient for either port or starboad boarding without having the steps in the way! You can tell that a ton of thought and planning occurred to produce such a great galley...yes we even went online and bought the cabinet lighting you did from Amazon. Really liked the idea...wish we had thought about doing that years ago! Jasper seemed to have a loss of words when asked to continue with the galley presentation. Obviously he likes segments that are scripted!! Thanks again guys for entertaining and informing us! George and Donna
George and Donna - we’re so glad you enjoyed the video and even happier that we turned you on to one of those simple little upgrades that can make a big difference (our favorite kind). Since we got into cruising boats we’ve always been intrigued by different designer’s approaches to balancing it all. While there will always be compromises, as you know, we do really feel that David Shaw got so much of it right when he penned this design almost twenty years ago. As for Jasper, he’ll shut the production right down if he’s not getting the attention he desires at any given moment. And we wouldn’t have it any other way 😊
Thank you for this tour! I give it a 2 thumbs up on editing and presentation. We are still working on getting our Magellano 66 and I'm seeing some must needed add-ons that you brought up.
Great tour of the boat, looks great. One thing I would keep an eye on is the LG fridge. I purchased two of the high end LG's Inverter linear fridge's and they are the worst I've ever owned. Both under 5 years old and already need to be replaced. They just lost a large class action lawsuit because of how many problems they have.
Hey Scott - thanks for the kind words and advice on the LG. As we mentioned, we absolutely love how well the fridge has worked for us so far. Our decision to go with it was buoyed by the fact that a couple of high end yacht builders were using them in new builds at that time (how could they possibly make a bad decision 🤪?). But that, of course, was before their issues became known. So far so good other than the disco light so we'll hope for the best and see how it goes.
Sorry Mike - penalty overturned. Admiral confirms three weeks, no BS. Flag denied - TD for LG (or for magic spinach). But 15 yards to you for your kind words about OLOH's layout 😁
Hey there Great episode Loved it!! Very good improvements you’ve made Love the interaction between you two...very sweet very playful no pretends very enjoyable to watch ...Can’t wait for part #2 See y’a in July ... Enjoy summer
