When not only other black people gassing you up but the other bands you are competing against show love, thats respect right there...this white boy got talent and earned his spot!
He was interviewed by a news channel at his school and HE STATED THE BAND AS A WHOLE is awesome, not just him. He's a humble kid, but there's nothing wrong with celebrating individuals that stands out. ❤️❤️❤️
I am not actually sure whether his name is John or justin, but I must say that he is very talented. It can't hurt that his assistants are equally as talented as he is. This band of young people from the horns, to the percussion, the color guards, ect all show forth excellence. That shows a great leader. Applause, applause. For the whole program.
The band is really good. The drum majors are next level though, and not just the white kid. Someone needs to do the drum line a favor and tune their snares; they are in sync, but you would never know it because they’re tuned too loose.
Band is a sport. And in Texas, it is a BIG and serious sport. Big money and time goes into band programs and just think about the students, they are athletes who speak a second language -- they hear, play, and read notes and other music notation. These are smart, do it all kids! Most kids in band are also excellent students. In Texas, kids have the same eligibility requirements for all extracurricular activities so they have to keep their grades up.
You said that right. The band can not exists without supportive parents. My kids were both in-band at the same time in two different school districts. Our household schedules were crazy, but we supported whatever they wanted to do for extra-curricular activities. So glad they attended the same college though--one trip each Fall to see them play at Tuskegee, those Marching Crimson Pipers!
@@thorceltic blacks are absolutely not the only ones with rhythm. Whites just don't have it 😂😂. Her comment said he is brown which includes a slew of races other than blacks that do have rhythm...unlike you whites😉
@@thorceltic 🤣🤣🤣 Really... Ms. Soul Train.. you def took it to the wrong level... And my husband is definitely white with rhythm so why are you really MAD😱
I have seen some negative comments about Justin leading this team but I do believe he earned his place. Black or white he is talented and he always gives credit to his team. One band, one sound.
MrGreenelight your comment really disturbed me. My post was great and inspiring for him. All that sarcasm stuff leave it please. He kill the show and I enjoy his energy!!! J5 Drum major in the feature his energy and vibe stands out away from the other drum majors! He know what he want and he kept the crowd jumping.
@@tamehrahudson1117 Tamehra, as I stated, I do not think you intended any dishonor, but we must be mindful. If the situation was reversed, and a news narrator said the "Black boy" just ran a great touchdown publicly, we would be protesting and demanding someone be fired. Just keeping it real, his name is Justin, not white boy. Please try to understand my point.
I never thought I'd see the day when JD would have the best band in Montgomery. Congrats. Brandon Howard you've done an awesome job. There are no shortcuts to success
Justin Heideman we were band mates at Lanier, that is how band was there, it was a culture, not s game. I can see he is putting the same energy in at JD
@@JustinHeideman Grambling is minutes down the street from where I live so I've seen great bands and y'all are fantastic for high school. Whole Band as a unit is excellent.
Dude, I Graduated from JD in 1984. JD was the most prestigious school in Montgomery, possibly the state at that time. This whole thing, including this is the new JD is a shock.
The head drum major was absolutely amazing. I was glad to see this diversity at this school. This is what Jesus always talked there is no color to Him we all bleed the same blood. RED 👏👏👏👏👏👏💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
This is a competition? WOW! I’m really curious what criteria the judges are looking for here. Where I come from bands are all very Corp style/precision bands and you certainly don’t dance at a competition. This is so very different culturally and in ever aspect of the performance. Would love to see the judges score card for this. These guys are killer though, I’ve seen college bands that couldn’t hang with these guys and gals.
This is a very entertaining show. I love this high school marching band. They sound so good and I can hear every instrument and the percussion section is definitely the heartbeat! Y'all are fire! The dancers being diverse as flag girls and dancers shows talent like no other. The Drum Majors are HBCU material to the utmost! The head dm, color no issue here you can dance! I'm following y'all on RU-vid! Continue to tear the field up and do your thing! 😎✌👊👏👏👏👏👍
I can watch this band every day , all day. What a pleasure to watch our young people display their talents. Kudos to all of the band instructions and leaders, school administrators and a special "thank you " to Justin for his commitment and energy.
Most Outstanding High School Band I have seen. The Band everyone in it from the Drum Majors to each member deserves a ovation and will be able to have success in the future. I did not see one person I saw an outstanding Group JD Band. Come back to Mobile, Alabama Home of Mardi Gras. Congratulations for your accomplishments.
I hear you, but in my multi-racial Louisiana Family, whose cooking is the one whose house we are at, we don't discriminate on good cooking! We all show up to the Family cookout, Black, White, Hispanic, Native American, Polynesian, we are one big Happy Fam and we can all cook!
Hello! All the way from Massachusetts!! That lead DM is so good, I can barely keep my eyes off him. All the moves enpointe. I hope he has another year before he’s off to university. Someone needs to donate band uniforms. They’re great enough!!
I'm reading the comments & realizing that many probably have just come across this video just like myself. Did anyone pay attention to the date this video was uploaded? 2018 was perhaps his first year as head DM & John/Justin did well. I'm not going to say he was technically or rhythmically great, but he was special. This year, he is killing the game. Its obvious its more than just a show & practice--he truly has the talent as well, periodt! Y'all, Let this young man live & thrive in doing something he obviously loves and enjoys! 🌤🌤To da mf sky!!!🌩🌩
I love these guys… I mean, in my country , it’s nothing we would understand…but as an artist, this is A LOT that I understand! Bravo y’all. You encourage the young people to think beyond the box that the world builds, heck this pandemic tries to cement it… I’m glad we got this!
Finding these videos of this band this morning was the best pick me up EVER! You guys are just JOYFUL!!! Well done to the music director on the work he’s done on teaching marching skills and getting the “ sound” right.
I'm glad to see people giving the WHOLE BAND credit. Whatever the white guy's name is he's living proof that you can roll with us IF you're SERIOUS and show respect whatever your background!! That's what I like about my people
Have they been on Ellen? How do we do that? They are all amazing! The spirit! Those four guys together! And then all the girls behind them, and the band! Wow! They have it together! Spunk and Spirit! My disappointment is that the stands aren't filled when they perform.
I just love this band! Justin is de man! But so are the other drum majors and those pretty girls in pink, and whole orchestra. Such talent. Great to watch you folks! The energy is contagious.
Didn't realize this was a high schools band. They are better than some of your college bands. That Justin though, he is 🔥🔥🔥. Bro can come to the bbq any time. Know he will keep it lit!
I was watching the girls from BRING IT and this popped into my youtube feed. I'm binge watching this band. They are the best I've ever seen. Very talented and perfectly on point!!!!! I can't get enough of them.
Excellent job again!!! I myself just found about this school, that’s why I’m barely commenting on your extraordinary job to the band directors and staff. You do and doing a great job, putting and giving these kids an opportunity at a high school and college level, because this is at a college level accomplishment, experience! Again, great job!
Awesome Band...collegiate level discipline...and yes I will say it...dat' white Drum Major is "killin' it"! Overall the Band is Fantastic and easy to watch 👏 🌹 🏆
Every time I think I have seen it all my eyes 👀 nearly fall out. All of these young adults need a full ride somewhere.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 We had an awesome band program back then where I am from but the struggle was real. What I understand from their story the struggle is still very real. We have to support the arts. It really makes a difference.
