Like a kidnapper who carries an unsuspecting victim away from his family, you apostates prey upon trusting members of the congregation, seeking to carry them away from the flock. During this final part of the last days, it is to be expected that Satan will continue to launch an avalanche of lies and deceptions. Thankfully, Jehovah has not left us in the dark regarding Satan’s deceptive tactics. The term "character" typically refers to people within a given (usually ficticious) work- like a book or a video game. It's not as common to use it in reference to people encountered in your everyday life... most of the time. The use of the term "character" also implies a unique identity. Usually characters in a work of fiction have unique traits which set them apart. There's also the expression that someone is "quite a character" to refer to a person with a personality we might consider strange. I admit, using the term "character" in this context makes it sound like they're talking about ficticious people, which might be a product of the interviews being scripted. But they may be trying to imply that going out and doing these jobs means meeting unique individuals with interesting qualities and learning how to fit in. Isn't that at odds with how Jehovah's Witnesses are usually conditioned?

I have close family members who are JW and I was was raised JW from 4 until 16 when I left and never looked back. I remember the active discouragement of higher education, and sports, the focus on not being materialistic (don't save, invest and protect your family) and the festering hypocrisy of criticising people who had to work two jobs for their lack of meeting attendance and field service. I know I will never be able to convince those in my family who continue in this, of the damage and divisiveness that this cult has wrought on the family as a unit, I always try to be respectful of their beliefs even though I don't wish to hear about them but to have seen the degeneration of this cult even from it's facade as a religious organisation truly leaves me feeling weighed down inside.

I have a friend who used to be JW, she left because she started dating a guy who is not jw, and worst of all, from what she told me, her jw group didn’t support the relationship because her boyfriend is a black guy. So she left, in which I believe was a good move on her part because she seems a lot more happier than before
