(Rebuttals Sushi no. 616 - Reviewing the 2023 "Exercise Patience!" convention of Jehovah's Witnesses - Sunday AM) A dramatization from this year's Jehovah's Witness convention apparently seeks to piggyback the group's persecution narrative on the notorious "Windrush" scandal of immigrants from the Caribbean being poorly treated.
As announced on September 15, 2023, this channel is dramatically reducing the number of uploads meaning there will be no further pre-recorded long-form rebuttals or "sushis" (segments from my rebuttals released as standalone videos). This video is one of four sushis from the beginning of my rebuttal to the Sunday morning session of the "Exercise Patience" convention, the filming of which was never completed.

I’ve never met a JW who was kicked out of their home for being a JW. But I’ve meet TONS of people who were locked out and shunned for deciding not to be a JW. They love playing the victim while victimizing non believers.

@easybeautybyniccolebordino8368, In a RU-vid comment section elsewhere, I once read a story from an ex-JW who recalled how they were kicked out of their JW parents' home at 14-years-old in the late-1960s. How could someone do that to their own child and live with themselves? I really wish people with an interest in child endangerment paid more attention to issues like this. Throwing your kid out on the streets because they violated your religion's rules or because they don't want to be a part of your faith -- what could a child possibly do to deserve such a punishment? How can one possibly justify putting their child in such a life-endangering and risky situation?

Quite ironic considering the way the brother acts is exactly the same way watchtower expects their followers to act when a family member decides they no longer want 'the truth'

Exactly. It looked like her brother was Catholic as I am. He had a crucifix on his wall. He knew what the truth was and they didn’t want to listen to him because the JWs brainwashed them. So sad. Moshi

@@moshimedlin-sw6ov , I think Lucille's brother's reaction was too harsh. He could have expressed his disagreement and concern differently. All he did was just convince his sister and her husband to further entrench themselves in their JW indoctrination. To me, the Catholic faith might be more willing to tolerate dissent within the Church, but they can still punish you for it if your disagreement with Church doctrine or practice goes "too far", and that's not very different from how the JW denomination behaves with dissenters. The Catholic Church is a little more lenient in this regard, and JWs aren't not willing to tolerate lenience at all. Both the Catholic Church and the JW Organization are still quite dogmatic, and that's one reason why I'm no longer involved with either denomination anymore.

@@b.w.7588 well that’s your choice not being Catholic anymore. But the JWs is a cult. I love being Catholic but it’s hard for some people but I’m not a perfect Catholic though. I don’t say the rosary every day or go to mass everyday. We just started going back to mass every Sunday. So you don’t have to be perfect and nobody is going to judge you. Unlike the JWs who make you do all their stuff then you’re judged. Moshi

Yeah. No joke there. I had just lost my dad to complications during a battle with cancer because in the words of the elders who stayed at the hospital to ensure my parents stayed faithful. “You can now accept bone marrow but you cannot accept platelets” which the reason they reminded him of platelets specifically was because that’s what he needed in that moment. He bled to death fighting over two and a half days from everywhere because without platelets you have no clotting factors left. He fought so hard. He was only 48 years old. Then my papa who was the only one in the family to never study even and had not been in the organization passed away due to the loss of his first born son just eight months after my dad passed away. It was so much to handle and instead of family members trying to be supportive or understand why I was struggling with faith they all screamed at me, cursed at me and I was left knowing I was no longer part of the family because I simply don’t believe in it anymore and I want nothing to do with it. I have made peace with a few members of my family but I honestly wonder if they might be finally recognizing that this religion isn’t all it is supposed to be and that the things force fed to us for generations is simply not the truth of it. How often were we told that we needed to go to meeting every time for those three days every week or we would be missing important spiritual food and how the closer to the end of the system we were the more we needed to be there. Now they barely have two meetings a week and no service time? Tf? 😂 I thought you were closer to the end not further from it?! It isn’t even the same religion I was raised in.

While Winston's brother-in-law's reaction upon learning that his sister and her husband are undergoing a Bible study course with Jehovah's Witnesses certainly is harsh, one cannot help but wonder what would happen if the child of JW parents or guardians were to announce that they had taken an interest in another religion -- would the reaction of Lucille and Winston to such a scenario with a child of theirs be any different from Lucille's brother's reaction?

Yep they are literally persecuting defectors for changing religion or just changing their minds about WT. Basically attacking freedom of religion. And they’ve gotten called out for by other countries already.

I heard at last WT meeting stop guessing Armaggedon coming, not time to list preaching hours, and stop the judging DF and those quit going to JW meetings.Because these Ex JW people may be around later.

Absolute rubbish. When black people came to the U.K. at that time the churches told them this is not the place for you. Black churches were formed in part because of that. Some ignored what the priest said and continued going to the church (Catholic and Anglican). The ones who became JWs faced the same racism they faced in other churches in many cases. A black elderly congregant told me how in the 1960s - 1980s her and her 7 kids were treated as disfellowshipped ones despite being in good standing. There is no way a black person would have got thrown out for being a JW in that era even if the black landlord/friend didn’t agree with it. There were signs up saying no blacks no Irish no dogs all over.

@Petemonster62, Even though I'm not Lloyd Evans nor British, Boxing Day forms part of the Christmas holiday in the UK, so therefore, Jehovah's Witnesses would not be allowed to celebrate such an event. JWs give to the needy, but their denominational relief efforts mostly benefit people in their own religious community, but only if you're abiding by the Watchtower Society's rules. JWs aren't encouraged to give to needy or poor people in general, not even to secular charities. I suppose they could give to secular charities if they are able to and chose to do so, but the Society believes that spreading the JW denomination's message is more important than catering to the financial and material needs of the impoverished.
