I have never felt so DISRESPECTED in my whole life. There are so many things wrong with this remake. My childhood literally just went to a COLD , DARK CORNER and ROCKED ITSELF BACK and FORTH , SCRATCHING the WALL UNTIL it's FINGERTIPS BLED , all the while LISTENING to SAD EMO SONGS , THE ORIGINAL JEM & THE HOLOGRAMS MUSIC and the THEME SONG FROM a LEAGUE of THEIR OWN . "this used to be my playground, this used to be my childhood dream" to have this movie come to light, like, this is TRULY OUTRAGEOUS (not in a good way) . Where's Shana? you know the black chick who was on drums. Do they even play instruments? Wait, am I missing something, "WE ARE THE MISFITS , OUR SONGS ARE BITER . WE ARE THE MISFITS , THE MISFITS . AND WE'RE GONNA GET HER" where are they? I know no on liked them but THEY WERE CRUCIAL to the story line. While on the story line, WHERE IN THE F*CK IS SYNERGY? You know the whole reason they are called the HOLOGRAMS. And Rio was in love with BOTH Jerrica and Jem AND thought they were 2 DIFFERENT PEOPLE . Who said this was a good idea has some serious splanning to do. THEY WOULDN'T DO THIS TO THE BARBIE(tm) FRANCHISE . What studio do I NEEDS to burned down? Argh. Not remotely close to the cartoon that supposedly inspired whatever this is... also, not really a great idea to feature a diminutive robot that looks a heck of a lot like the BB-88 droid from the upcoming Star Wars Episode 7 film... really not a good move there. Also... no self-aware AI Synergy and no hologram-projecting earrings? And Jem isn't a CEO of her own record label, rather she's some kind of pawn? Ah Hollywood...

They are trying too hard to make this for teenie boppers! They should have taken into account the nostalgia to avoid alienating their 30 something year old fans with kids. Bad form!

I can see a lot of negative responses to this trailer, and I can see why. This is literally 'outrageous'! Jem and the Holograms was created in the eighties, relating to the bright colours and rock star theme of the era, and I loved it. I was born in the nineties, so I missed the whole rock star thing, but when my mother bought me the dvd of a couple of episodes of this series, I loved it to hell. I can see that Hollywood is trying to adapt the eighties theme to the current era, but the whole point of Jem and the Holograms was that it was colourful and so.... Eighties! I get that they are trying to retell a great series and bring it to the current generation, but is secret identities, dead fathers and wall-e like robots the way to do it? NO! If you want to retell an old-time story, you have to adapt it, true, but this is just taking it too far. Where are the misfits, for crying out loud?!? I might watch this, and maybe I won't, but chances are I'll hate it because it just isn't Jem!

This movie was actually very cute. They could have done it completely titled something else and not based it on the cartoon but whatever nothing to get all emotional about people.

Synergy is now Eve from Wall-E mixed with that rolling bot from Star Wars Episode 7 with a little Echo from Earth to Echo thrown in.

I watched the Barbie movie about a week ago. I thought it was meh. But one line got my attention when the humans entered Barbieworld and the adult human mom saw Barbie's Dreamhouse and said, "Oh look I had that dreamhouse! I saved up my allowance to buy it! 💗" I bet quite a few women in the theater said something like that when they saw that as well as the other lifesized Barbie playsets. I'm sure it brought them back to their childhoods. This is why so many fans were angry when they saw the Jem trailer. Nothing resembled the dolls. Nothing resembled the playsets. Nothing resembled the cartoon. It wasn't a movie that brought them back to their childhoods. It was a movie about something else for someone else. Why even call it Jem and the Holograms then? Why not call it Julie and the Glamdolls? Then they could have had their coming of age movie, enjoyed moderate success, and maybe even made their budget back. 🤷‍♀️

I had no clue this was from an old cartoon but when I watched this yesterday I thought it was great and inspiring, the music was great and they can really sing, it was good. It‘s not trash like what y'all think it is, and I'm looking forward to the sequel cause Kesha is gonna be in it.

Don't ever trust Jon Chu again. Now we all know he is a fraud. Just like when Sunbow ironically cheated us with the 1986 Transformers Movie by killing off Optimus Prime, and along with the original Autobots & Decepticon characters in it. That movie sadly denied a sequel because of it. And so will this Jem movie. Both of these 2 movies went to the dogs and are instantly disposable. You might as well not by the DVD/Blu-ray when this Jem movie comes on. What a waste of time for everybody. We waited a whole year for this new Jem movie for nothing. It's like we were taken for a ride.

I feel sorry for the young girls who star in this movie! They thought this was a good idea. Did you guys know that the CREATER of Jem asked to write or co-write the script, and the studio told her NO!! This is sad. It is just pure garbage! I refuse to see the movie, because other than a bit of name dropping, it has nothing to do with the actual characters or story. Still, I feel very sad for the kids that took up the movie. I wish the actresses all the best, but perhaps they should have done some research into what they were up against! Poor girls caught in a real shit storm.

I know it looks stupid and is a bastardization of JEM but give it change, because Aubrey Peebles is cast and is extremely talented, you can catch her on Nashville, and she deserves for this movie to go well.

this movie is lit but this isn't the sequel..

Just from the trailer they did NOT stay true to the original Jem and the Holograms. They twisted it and took it a totally different direction...looks a little lazy...could have written it much better. I know they were trying to update it...but why? Jem embodied the 80's, what we loved about the show. I my go see it with my daughters and give it a chance, but my expectations are low.

This is not Jem and the Holograms... It's not even close to it. In fact it's an insult to the original. Where are the orphans, Raymond and the Misfits. They're all a part of the plot and they're the ones that stirred it along with the protagonists. Couldn't you at least bring better singers or just made it an animation instead? This movie sound like something the Misfits thought about as revenge on their Rivals, The Holograms.

Just got done watching this. Not bad. The "fans" hated it though. It wasn't for you. It was for children and to help inspire them. CHILDREN! Not adults who have nothing else to grasp. Grow the fuck up. Could've been an origin story, who knows? But nope, you all have to live in the past, never giving anything a chance. So reboots and remakes are the new thing. Hope you all are happy.... pathetic.

Ok, wait a second here. The earrings were supposed to be the source of her power which transformed her, right? And were they not adults and not kids?! I know the music has changed, but it would have been cool to see them still honor the original mold. And the Misfits were her sworn enemy?! Maybe they are setting up the storyline to bring it all together with a sequel? Who knows. I'm a guy who loved Jem, while watching Transformers, GI Joe and Thundercats and this trailer was seriously disappointing.

It looks like a Mollie Sirus modern day turd! The cartoon oozed 80's, and they make a piece of crap reminding me how lousy the music industry is, and they raped my childhood memories....First they remade A Nightmare on Elm St., and Halloween, and Friday the 13th, now ..Hollywood, Enough for the reboots and ripoffs, This crap just reminds me that none of these talent reality crap shows on nowadays, nobody has a voice or can carry a tune since the 80's, without autocorrect anyway....They could have set this movie and made it for those of us who grew up with it! Especially now while the 80's are back..and thank god...but they geared it towards what, teens who never saw the cartoon, who think The Voice is a decent show...Good Grief!

Actually, the story of this movie is good. Its moral value is about being ourselves and staying together with friends. In comparison to the original animated TV series, I like this this movie's plot better. I'm not saying that the TV series is bad, but I just don't like Synergy's appearance and abilities. She is a A.I. computer and hologram projector, but she acts like a fairy godmother with powerful magic to Jem. That looks strange. What ruins this film is how it is presented. Some scenes are unnecessary and the background music is boring.
