Jem recorded this at the Sandgate Town Hall. The only cover on the EP release, a Colin Hay song that Jem absolutely loves. Featuring Rory Smith on cello. Filmed by Roy Nien Recorded by Geoff McGahan
Oh my God, I love this rendition of this song! What beautiful vocals . Im certain Colin Hay would be justifiably proud of how you have made this performace your own young lady. Well done Jem. Bravo. Can't wait to watch your career explode! ✨🌟⭐
One of Hays best ....it's a wrenching sad song but the master songwriter strips all the fat off the bone leaving a vocal like yours Jem to complete the emotions and purity ....good choice....
OMG!!!!!! This is so so much better than Colin's original from that darn silly soundtrack to that bad movie, Garden State. LOVE THIS!!!!! Thank you very much from Albany, NY. Cheers.
ok.. gorgeous voice, obviously. Sweet piano playing too! But.... compared to the way Hay does it, this is just tooo slow. She sounds like she's Trying to hard to make it her own, to make it different enough than him to warrant doing it. It's Very hard to take such a perfect tune that the musican (Hay) did in a way that is just so damn personal (sounding), to the point, etc. and change that perfect Thing he does with it. She does what so so so many people do with cover tunes.... makes it sound too Precious sort of. I'd love to hear her do it again, without the preciousness. (listen to eva cassidy doing Autumn Leaves here on youtube. A perfect example of what I mean... and one of the greatest vocal tunes ever! imho.
