Okay hi indigenous anthropologist here and you're actually not wrong - one of the most ancient and pervasive mythic motifs is the idea that humans asking the gods to remove our suffering and pain is essentially asking to remove our human sentience because like a flower or a hummingbird doesn't fear death or have panic attacks over going to the grocery store 😅
Imagine if you were literally an Oscar-winning screenwriter and your wife spent $30 million making a film with this dialogue and story. I have so questions.
TBF he and Matt Damon stole the screenplay. He greatest acting role was acting like he was an Oscar winning writer. So it’s to like this hurts his credibility as a writer or anything p.
The opening animation in the movie was made with AI? why does that dude in the painting have 6 fingers? you telling me JLO was ready to dish out millions to fund this stupid movie but cant even hire an actual artist or model to make a cutscene? boooooooh tomatoe tomatoe tomatoe
What gave it away for me was how the roses look like they aren't completely rendered. They look like they weren't animated using the same FPS as everything else. I hate when celebrities want praise for doing their own projects only to put in half of the effort required to make something good.
It’s because most of the budget went into fixing herself + her voice editing before caring about the others that were included, and then the background for last. Which is why the whole movie feels like a thesis, as said in the video😂 she was selfish in production and didn’t genuinely care about making a great film, only about making herself look great.
I didn’t notice until it was supposed to show her “frowning”. It literally looked like someone took the warp tool and dragged down the edges of her mouth 🤦🏾♀️
No one told her it would suck? You mean every studio turning her down, Ben Affleck telling her it sucks and trying to make corrections she rejected, and Jane Fonda telling her it sucked is being surrounded by yes people?
I saw a clip of the zodiac council on tiktok and I legitimately thought it was an AD for something, bro it was so silly . I can't believe it was in this movie
@@pairashootpants5373TBH, low-key, that's most humans, though...like thinking a sky daddy or prophet is watching everything we do and keeping tally. Oops.
@@SaintShionummmm I don’t know anyone high key or low key who believes a council of 12 gods are exclusively watching them. Most people have the feeling that whatever god they believe in is watching everyone at all times. Not just jlo lol
That documentary actually made me feel bad Ben Affleck... which is so hard to do... but watching that man wrestle knowing what a train wreck this was while trying to be super supportive was so awful. You know that man wanted a drink like his life depended on it! 😅 The longer the documentary went on the more and more he looked like a ragged man at the end of a long journey thru the desert.
@@potatopirate5557 meanwhile, she’s not supporting him by attending his award ceremony because her movie about herself is more important, kind of like that guys wedding. I hope that was a bad joke.
All narcissists think that about themselves. At least she’s not pretending to be a normal person. I’m going to enjoy watching the dumpster fire that is Jlo’s career
Her movie is giving nothing, but expecting everything. 20 million dollars is a drop in the bucket for her, but she’s expecting us poors to be impressed.
@user-mt5lj8ot3h there's a clip of Jen calling Jane fonda basically begging her to be in the movie even tho Jane said no. It was so cringe and poor Jane....u could tell how badly she didn't wanna do it e jlo wouldn't let up
And after all this romanticization of their relationships, apparently Ben has recently moved out of their gigantic house and they go to couples therapy because they are on the brink of getting a divorce already. 🥴
I went to my niece's 4th grade class musical tonight, and it was definitely way more entertaining than what Jlo did here. Thank you Nick, for watching it so I don't have to
When I heard Jennifer and Ben got back together, I really liked that love story: the idea of two people taking twenty ish years to grow and find each other again. I guess I only ever surface level followed either of them though, because it sounds like growing was NOT done
I thought you might have been overstating the vanity vehicle aspect of this until 1 minutes in and 54 year old J Lo was portraying an adolescent girl in a teenage tragedy.
There are times when artists make things as a "passion project" and it's worth making, even for a small but like-minded audience who will be touched by it. The same cannot be said for something like this, which is, instead, a vanity project. The only person being touched in a vanity project is the person making it. (Cue joke about sex toys and self love.)
this creature really had the audacity of making an AI intro for a project which was meant to make the general public treat her like a serious artist… THE GALL
I think you are giving this way too much credit calling it a student thesis film. This is more like a sophomore in high school with a super rich daddy who said, "don't do drugs, take the black Amex and make a film instead, honey!"
Agree! Saying it's like a film school students project is insulting. This is high school level at best. I used to write short stories in middle school. And I'm sure they were better than this.
I would be interested in a comparison between the abusive relationship subplot in this movie to the movie Enough that she starred in in the early 2000s.
@@TheWolfeDen it's one of my favorite movies. I saw it shortly after it came out (I'm assuming straight to home video? I don't remember if it was ever in theaters) and always felt it was a good balance between a thriller and a true-enough story of a survivor. The actor playing the antagonist does a really good job of portraying an abuser, acting as someone who is charming at first and subtly dropping red flags until he doesn't have to hide who he is anymore. It's not a perfect representation of an abuser/victim dynamic, but for an early-2000s thriller, there is a lot of good stuff to take from it.
Except Halsey and Kasey are actually talented. I loved the film Halsey made for her visual album. I haven't heard of Kasey's, but I'm sure there's something to love about it, her music is great. JLO however...nah
This made me think of The Cell, too! Except The Cell was slightly better, possibly because J.Lo did not make it herself. Also, Vincent D'Onofrio would have definitely refused to appear in this film, if she even called him. (Surely she did not.)
I cannot get through this one without laughing my head off, now it's the motorcycle commentary from you that's making me ROTFL royally omg...you're a hoot...do you do comedy? Like stand up? You should omg.....when I stop laughing I'll continue...........this is a blast!
I'm the same age as J.Lo and I also went to NYU. A looooooong time ago. I was a theater major, but all of my friends were film majors. I understand completely what you mean when you talk about student films. ☺️
16:25 PERFECT repeat 😂 It had my dying cause I was like, did I hear that right? And then it literally repeat and I just laughed harderrr😭 abusive boyfriend scotch😭
For some reason the whole astrology horoscope dating stuff makes me think of that noel Miller clip saying that regular people can't afford to be this delusional
I had to rewind the Zodiac counsel part of this video because I thought you started talking about a weird super bowl ad for no reason and I got confused.
This is going to become a thing for me in life I swear…. If things go bad and I feel like I’ve really fkked up, I can just ask myself, “Did you spend decades treating people like garbage because of your ego and rekindle an old flame and ignore his wishes for privacy in your love and the public not being interested in you anymore and insist on spending $40 million of your own money on a self made film that exploits the love your partner wants private and an album of mediocre music just to have the album, film, and subsequent tour tank on a epic level and find out your partner is leaving you for telling the whole world about your private life when everyone you know and spoke to told you not to do any of this but your ego is too big to heed wise warnings? No? Well it’s not that bad, is it? You could be Jennifer Lopez in 2024…”
"This movie is a double negative" 🤭🤣 "Student Film"~Ouch‼️"The Zodiac council Magical thinking~ Maybe she's just difficult to live with"😂 "Who's Jennifer Lopez?" BWAHAHA Obrigada‼️
The whole abusive boyfriend being a Libra thing is actually kind of funny because, in astrology Libras are known to be very laid-back and accommodating, the kind of people that literally everyone gets along with. Is a Scorpio, and Scorpios are known for being, um, well, let's just say that a lot of serial killers are Scorpios... I wonder if she changed his astrological sign to kind of muddy the waters and pick Libra because they're right next to each other?
