Man, I would never buy anything that had Alexis name on it. She needs to get a MAJOR attitude adjustment !! This interview definitely hurt the sales of her book more than helped.
Alexa Stewart seems like a crazy mean B. By the end of interview her entire body is pointed away from her (former) business/radio partner- as she describes her own passive-AGGRESSIVE stories about Martha (in Whateverland book) as "funny" while coming off as a humorless viper.
@@m.e.d.7997on the one hand, you learn on your own and grow up fast, it’s one way to mother. On the other hand, she was always second fiddle to Martha’s career. Okay they weren’t wealthy but they weren’t poor either. Andy was a lawyer. They did alright.
Maybe Alexis should have chosen a career where she wasn't in the public eye since she seems so damn annoyed that she has to do this interview. Alexis would fit in more working at the DMV than trying to be a public figure.
This interviewer is so combative. Martha Stewart was a producer of their show Whatever Martha, as well as providing them with all her shows. She is just as supportive about this book as she was their show, and most likely, she was the one with the idea to make this book. Martha is a very shrewd business woman who wants to be promoted and wants to help her daughter with her career as well. I will say this...If Alexis wants to promote her book as being "funny," she needs to be more fun and humorous in this interview instead of defensive. But she is like this in all the shows and interviews in which I have seen her. Jenny is simply a joy to watch, and seems to be very positive and approachable.
Alexis Stewart does not understand that her terrible, rude, condescending attitude, validated everything that was being asked of her, that she flat turned around and denied. She ABSOLUTELY said every ONE of the things she was asked to explain w/no hesitation. One would have to think...KNOW, that Martha INSTRUCTED her to get this STRAIGHTENED out. Martha Stewart would not STAND to be talked about in this matter, especially by her own daughter. These are two head strong and ruthless people. Like mother, like daughter. Cold and callous.
I think Martha knew exactly what she was doing when she endorsed this book. She knew she would receive a good deal of sympathy from the public by being the "victim" of her daughter's ire. She's a very shrewd and cunning business person.
You can tell that Savannah pissed off both Alexis and Jenny right off the bat, and it only got worse when Savannah kept repeating the saaaame questions and comments over and over. Alexis and Jenny were clearly exasperated by the end of the interview -- Jenny dealt with it by literally putting her hands in the air at times; Alexis dealt with it by channeling her inner c-word. I don't blame either of them.
Who said anything about her being abusive ...man people really read into whatever they want I don’t think it was that serious they just fail out of friendship.. point blank.
Alexis tries to have it both ways, she knows that anything she writes about her mother will draw attention, then tries to refute every surprising revelation by saying no no you didn’t understand what I said.
Talk about a PR Hail Mary attempt on the part of the publisher to push a book, long after the mood in which it was conceived has passed. They're clearly no longer friends, but the book must be promoted or they risk getting sued by the publisher. I can just hear their editor in the meeting "I dunno what happened between you two, but you're gonna go on every talk show and SMILE while plugging this fucking book, bitches!"
This is the strangest interview. I'm wondering what these women expected to happen going into the interview. The viewers and interviewer had logical questions for the two ladies. Alexis had to know the public would react to the book the way they did and zero in on anything personal on Martha Stewart; but she doesn't own what she writes and gets defensive towards people for reading in between the lines? Writing a "Mommy Dearest" book isn't classy. Alexis has issues. She hasn't "moved on."
Jennifer you were dignified on this show and Howard. Alexis is foolish to lose your friendship, very high school behavior on her part. I hope whomever she decides is worthy of her friendship is prepared to be dumped when someone more intersting to Queen Alexis comes along. Hopefully she doesn't tire of being a mother.
@ricomakeda Alexis was given life and financial support by her mother Martha. Now Alexis uses that life and health and education and money to discredit her mother. To make money by trashing her mother. Disgusting! Ungrateful! I have no respect for her or for poor little rich girls who play victim and throw their parents under the bus. Makes me glad I don't have kids. Ungrateful brats who feel sorry for themselves and blame their own failures on their parents. Shame on Alexis.
Oh you just know Martha warned her to zip it or these book sales better constiture what she would have gotten from the will. She literally back tracked on everything she wrote.
I have liked Jennifer since finding Whatever, Martha! on TV several years ago. She's a smart, witty and down-to-earth woman, and she looks wonderful. I have tried to like Alexis. I have more in common with Alexis than Jennifer (although I am also a Notary - lol) But Alexis is just a truly miserable, unlikable person.
Nothing like complaining at your mom while you're making a million bucks off a book about her. No one would read the book if she wasn't Martha's daughter.
Yes, Alexis is emotionally damaged and seems to be hostile and defensive. But Savannah is a terrible interviewer. She is totally unprepared for Alexis's combative behavior, and doesn't know how to negotiate Alexis's resistance...A good interviewer always prepares herself for all possibilities...And what's with the insipid smile pasted on her face?..I can't stand it when female interviewers constantly smile. It makes them look vapid. There will never be another Barbara Walters!
Writes a book with snarky comments about her famous mother, then acts annoyed when she's asked questions. Frankly it's the only reason the book was published.
The interviewer was unfazed by their disingenuous answers and anger! A's total lack of empathy and insistence that she'd said nothing against her mother seemed narcissistic, self-centered. What an opportunistic friend and daughter. Yet the reporter kept at the truth despite their unreal protestations.
What I get out of this is, she regrets writing the book because she was grasping at straws to seem like she had a bad childhood. I didn’t hear anything “ mommy dearest” at all.
I'll tell you exactly why their friendship/relationship ended. Jennifer lost weight, and looks great, Alexis wants to be the skinnier one, I know people like this, they either love you our dislike you based on your weight!
Why write something in a public book, but then become obviously defensive when asked about the things you wrote?! If you are annoyed that people aren't "getting you", then maybe you should write in a different manner...
Jen and alexis r really good at liein they use it funny to cover up the fact that alexis bashed her mom n that book and I think we all know that something happen with them u just dont end a friendship like that
This was the most awkward interview! Hard to watch, partly because the interviewer sucked and doesn't get that Alexis is painfully sarcastic and dry, and partly because of all the tension.
I feel bad for Jenny in the situation cuz Alexis seems to have dumped her as a friend for no reason. I've had a similar situation happen to me. I've had a close friend and she was my best friend and we became really close and then one day she just up and stopped wanting to be my friend. There was really no logical reason. Ppl change sometimes for the worst and it sucks. So I feel for Jenny. I get it. I understand how it feels to have a friend who means a lot to you just suddenly not want anything to do with you anymore.
Savannah Guthrie squeezed them alive for her own amusement....plus I THINK Martha Stewart omnimedia will crumb down when her spoiled daughter Aluseless ( Alexis ) take over Martha's empire once dead.
I kind of feel bad for that Jenny girl, but not because of Alexis, more because of the relentless bringing up of the topic. I kind of get why people are turned off by Alexis, but I get her personality because a lot of people view me as icy too, before they get to know me. 🥶
TBF, Alexis is prob cool around the right ppl. This other chick was too nice. Alexis is hard boiled and bitter she needs to be around ppl who will tell her about herself. I also notice she mentioned she doesn’t talk to anyone in her family. Martha did her siblings so dirty over the years I’m sure it played out amongst the kids. What a pitiful way to live a privileged life.
I feel like the people in the comment section (along with the interviewer Savannah Guthrie) seem to miss the humor. I guess because I get dry humor (and clearly Martha does as well) and it's literally Alexis along with Martha poking fun and jokes at just how much people will go above and beyond to show things in a perfect light meanwhile, its really not that smooth behind closed door. They showed that Martha or nobody is perfect no matter how perfect it may appear. I mean, Martha's first episode of her Martha Show (with the studio audiance) she walks out donning her ankle monitor and smiling.
I think the interviewer was totally out of line. She was being completely rude to these ladies. We don't know the relationship between Alexis and Jenny really is and it shouldn't matter. I would have felt defensive if I had been in Alexis' shoes also.
Smash and Superfast I agree ... she is trying to get a rise out of Alexis .... the point of the book is not dishing up dirt its about Life os Real - get over it .... Savanah doesnt “get it”
Smash and Superfast Not at all. The book trashed her mom. Why would someone do that? Why can’t they be pleasant to each other during this interview. Alexis barely looked over to Jennifer.
Pointless interview and pointless book. Was this really meant as a tongue in cheek book, why even write it if what you say is half truths or no truths at all. Sounds to me like she regretted writing about mumsy and being left out of the will or at least a greatly reduced amount. Martha's cold personality would make that possibility more than plausible.
They are extremely rude to the interviewer and is so difficult to watch these ill mannered, unintelligent women. The interviewer is so much smarter, classier and prettier.
Alexis sucks. She wrote that stuff about Martha, and then was haughty with the interviewer when asked about it. It is Weird to dump a person you are super close with because you are tired of them. Will she do that with Jude? She comes off horribly, and couldn't care less about anyone but herself. I hate that I wasted time listening to her dumb life. I felt a pang for Jenny, but she held her own.
The tension aside, Alexis has a dry sense of humor and gets tired of having to explain herself. Friendships have theyre seasons...long, short, in between
@RollingLeaf22 While I don't disagree with you, I'm guessing like most children, she's a product of her environment. Martha isn't known for being very kind either. Not that it justifies Alexis's behavior.
I like Alexis. She is very sexy. Just the right amount of makeup in this clip. She really knows how to put herself together. I enjoyed that Whatever Martha show. Entertaining.
Funny they were best friends when Jennifer was heavier...now that she's lost weight.is healthier and looks wonderful, Alexis "breaks up" with her. Predictable...
Alexis is bella she looks like Faith Hill. But...she seems unkind. At 2:55 her mom did the with spoiled daughter. We all had simple ingredients back in 70s and 80s decade. I know she does not have prepared food either so why judge? All for .. 💰 money.
I find the rabid need of the media to deconstruct the wholesome image of especially gentile American public figures quite interesting. This book and Ms Stewart's jail trip seem to be indicative of a larger cultural trend and feed off a visceral dislike for a a certain caste of Americans.
