You might like this video I shot of her in 2018 doing this tune w/The Watson Twins at the coolest festival on the planet, the Trans-Pecos Festival of Music + Love in Marfa. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DP3Z3-o2V5w.html
I saw Rilo Kiley play in Austin, TX...Sept 2007, I believe. Jenny announced on the mic that the Stubb's sound guy had requested they play Rise Up (With Fists!!) and I just want to say: thank you, sound guy! You made an excellent choice that day, and I never forgot it.
❤❤❤. I remember when I was fixated with this song... "It's hard to believe your prophets when they're asking you to change things but with their suspect lives we look the other way are you really that pure, sir? thought I saw you in Vegas it was not pretty... but she was."
Probably 15 years ago Fuse aired a commercial that mashed up a bunch of music videos. At the end was a clip from the end of this video, with Jenny Lewis smiling over her guitar. I knew just seeing a 2 second clip of her I would love her music. It was years before I realized that my one of my favorite artists was the girl at the end of that commercial.
I had no idea there was a video for this. This was the only song from her solo album Rilo Kiley played when I saw them live. It was a very pleasant surprise that night. The video would have been better without the laugh track though.
Gat dang, what 15 years does and this song is still relevant. Oceans are dying, cops killing more people than ever, I'm this much older. There was so much hope, but keep the flame alive.
I love you all. I love all of JLs music. Cracks me up and gives me something to chew on at the same time. High quality entertainment. And now I am tired… (it’s late here… for me definitely) Mad love and prayers from Tennessee! 🧡💪🏼🇺🇸
If you're gonna riff on "Hee Haw", remember that Oprah had her first news gig in the same building (474 James Robertson Pkwy). C'ntry wasn't always ig'nt.
