I highly recommend 'I AM SOMI' its like a vlog thing which showcase her personality, how she's being treated by the company, how she produced and write her own songs and how she is enjoying her life in the THEBLACKLABEL.

My theory is that Teddy's direction for Somi is more pop sound, cause hiphop is somehow already overused in mainstream kpop OR maybe to at least separate Somi & BP style and not get compared, cause BP is already the one with the more hiphop style.

Fun fact: 05:16 YES A JENNIE SOLO REFERENCE, she even did the finger choreo and said 'b*tch nanoum solo" ALSO she did a reference to Lisa's Hammer scene in LSG, Lalisa desert scene with the cars and she even used the same car from LSG AND also she is on the scridbble car just like jennie in her solo and the OTG reference where the car explodes behind Rosé, SO.... theu are from the same label and their producer is the same AND they are really close friends SO its ok to do all this references

This song and MV is the continuation of “Dumb Dumb”, the cheating ex-boyfriend is the same guy in the “Dumb Dumb” MV. There will be a third song/MV since it says the “to be continued” possibly the ending to this storyline. She kicks so high because she trained in taekwando since she was little, it’s one of her special skills/talents that she shows in variety shows..she is known for it. Also, yup the police is actually Somi’s dad LOL…her dad is popular in his own right and has been on variety shows, he’s very funny and such a cool guys. Somi’s mom is the coolest mom ever too…you should check out “I AM SOMI”…her reality show pre-debut and during debut. Somi is so funny, charming, and talented af…you see her writing songs/composing/recording as well as appearances from TEDDY himself and other black label artists/producers. WHAT YOU WAITING FOR was probably my favorite non- BLACKPINK song last year (loved the mysterious part that sounded sorta like an unidentifiable mallet instrument). DUMB DUMB was a good song, but took a little getting used to. BIRTHDAY her debut song didn't really work for me and the video seemed too childish (yes I know Somi has a mischievous playful personality), but there was a b-side OUT OF MY HEAD that was one of my favorite songs of 2019. XOXO also had 3 b-sides. She did a performance video of English song ANYMORE for Naver OUTNOW. ChungHa (one of the top 10 female dancers in Kpop) was also in one of the greatest collab songs ever WOW THING with Seulgi (main dancer + lead vocal of Red Velvet), Soyeon (rapper of (G) I-DLE), SinB (main dancer of now disbanded GFRIEND). IMO there should be criminal charges for this never getting a stage performance even at end of year award shows (4 different companies and they probably only created partial choreography for chorus). PRISTIN 프리스틴 had Nayoung (now acting & modeling) and Kyulkyung (aka Jieqiong, actress, model). They were a rookie of the year group with a ton of potential but were failed by their company. Best song is b-side BLACK WIDOW has dance practice video, Also MVs WEE WOO (debut song), 2nd song We Like was disappointing and company tried 5 member sexy subunit PRISTIN V song GET IT. GUGUDAN 구구단 had vocal god turned soloist Sejeong and rapper Mina (now actress), a great group known for a capella vocal skills and they've disbanded. So many good songs A GIRL LIKE ME, THE BOOTS, NOT THAT TYPE, and Seyeong x Mina x Nayoung subunit song SEMINA is really underated.. WEKI MEKI 위키미키 (pronounced like 'We' and 'Me', the only 'meh' is their declining CD sales despite the group getting better) has underrated rapper/dancer Yoojung and popular visual Doyeon. Their best songs/MVs are CRUSH, PICKY PICKY, COOL. Other good songs TIKI TAKA, OOPSY, DAZZLE DAZZLE, debut I Don't Like Your Girlfriend and 2nd song La La La were okay. DIA 다이아 has Chaeyeon (visual, actress, model), but has never done well, but their suspenders based choreography in the MR. POTTER dance practice was fun. There was songwriter/producer controversy when their song WooWoo sounded like Tinashe's Superlove. WJSN 우주소녀 aka Cosmic Girls has vocalist Yeonjung, probably done the best with album sales. Best song is from their more grown up 4 member subunit WJSN THE BLACK song EASY. Some other WJSN MVs: upbeat pop song HAPPY (has similar energy to I.O.I hit Very Very Very), Boogie Up, Save Me Save You, Secret. There was a one shot collab WJMK 우주미키 song STRONG which had Yoojung & Doyeon from WekiMeki and SeolA and Luda from WJSN.

OUTTA MY HEAD was my favorite non-BLACKPINK song that year (b-side of debut song Birthday, a kinda disappointing title track and MV I wasn't fan of despite being a SOMI fan 'Sommungchi' since finding I.O.I in early 2017 shortly before they disbanded). OOHM was basically my go to karaoke song watching RU-vid alone when noone was around to hear my 'singing'. Also a big fan of WHAT YOU WAITING FOR especially because of the unidentifiable instrument used (sounded kinda like a mallet instrument but not exactly, I used to play xylo & vibraphone parts sometimes way way back in HS band). Oddly enough if I got to ask Teddy just one question it wouldn't be about my favorite group, it'd be wtf is that instrument in WYWF??? I don't mind the pop music elements so much (as someone who listened to both Debbie Gibson and Metallica as a teen, which made Babymetal make perfect sense to me), but I wish they'd move past her acting as a high school student in MVs like Dumb Dumb now that she's 20. The playful mischievous Somi is kinda her image, but she can play a mischievous 20something. Asking for both versions of this CD for Xmas (Kpop really hurts my minor Blu-ray collecting), but holding off on kit version for budget reasons to see if YG does something really crazy and unheard of like putting out a new BLACKPINK CD before Xmas...hey, we can hope...

I don't think she changed her name because it clashed with another person, I think she changed it because everyone in the industry was used to her being called by her full name Jeon Somi from produce 101 days. All contestants were always referred to by their full names and they also used full names during i.o.i promotions. So it's just a habit. After she debut solo, she was still credited and addressed like that. So I think they gave up and rebranded for convenience and to avoid confusion.
