Making a simple stool for my shop.
The legs are 1" square tube, 16 gauge wall. They are angled at 5°. The top is 12.5" square, 1.25" thick.
If you want to try the texture on the top, you don't need a CNC machine, just use a router table with a 90° V-bit.
Thank you for watching!

You integrated a cnc into your shop perfectly. I guess if the grooves ever become annoying from dust in the future, you could always fill the negative spaces with resin. But then again, it's also nice to just be at one with dust. lol. Anyhow, top quality vid, and great outro!
@Jer_Schmidt

+pocket83 Thank you very much! So far dust in the grooves hasn't been a problem, but I do like the resin idea. I'll keep that in mind :)

You did a real nice job Jeremy. a lot better welding than I have ever done. I have a video coming out next week were i build a small trailer and the welder broke on me. no gas .then me feed motor went on the fritz. had to use my small ark to finish it off. What a disaster but I managed to finish it. Very rough welds but it held. Looks like you got it down to a tee. love seeing your builds

Very smart. I particularly like the compound angles and the full size 'jig' for setting out. I've just bought an arc welder for repairing some of the sheep gates (it's amazing how the break thwm); similar size box sections - not sure my welding is going to be up to yiur standard though.

Nice! One thing though.. Sawdust is going to fill the beautiful carving on the top, maybe fill it with epoxy? That way you can easilly wipe the seat clean
@Jer_Schmidt
@Jer_Schmidt 8 лет назад
+wdonders The idea behind the seat texture was to make it more comfortable. Filling with epoxy would make it hard and slick, which is exactly what I don't want. Also I tend to keep my shop fairly clean, so the dust buildup hasn't been an issue.

Great project and vid. Any chance you have the gcode file or cad file for your seat? I am assembling my own and first CNC router and I think the stool top is a great idea. What software did you use to create the seat profile? Thank in anticipation.
@Jer_Schmidt
@Jer_Schmidt 8 лет назад
+Bill Blake Thanks. I use V-Carve Pro. I think I can get you the seat drawing in a variety of CAD formats, but you'll want to create the G-code yourself to suit your machine. If you want the 2d CAD drawing you can email me and let me know what format you want, so I can send that to you.

NIce one thanks for the link, very helpful. BTW I thought your table saw fence was genius when I can afford a proper table saw I'm doing that. Just built a nice bench for my cheap Ryobi 10" and the motor back bearing decided to disintegrate on me. Had a lot of fun stripping it down though to find the problem lucky it's a cheap fix replacing the bearing tomorrow. Thanks again.

I wouldn't have thought to use a bolt with my combination square. To draw lines that are not square to the reference edge.
@kevinmorin7965
@kevinmorin7965 5 лет назад
Perhaps add TIG to your welding equipment. These small section, short run, and tight confined joints are a bear in MIG - even with run-in and run-out ramps- that you're not using. good design, nice wood execution, decent metal set up- welding lags behind all the other considerations of the video. TIG may be the solution to tiny joints with clean non-dressed beads?
@Jer_Schmidt
@Jer_Schmidt 5 лет назад
Yeah, totally. But I don’t have a TIG and don’t want to spend the money for one right now.
