@ frank1f11, The Media has never been on the side of black ppl. You may speak of certain situation that you have misinterpreted but historically the Media has never been on the side of black ppl. Give me a history, a time line, if I am wrong.
Think about it this way... Growing up in Obama's generation, and getting involved in social issues and politics (living through the 60s, 70s, 80s, etc.), it would be IMPOSSIBLE to be black and have absolutely NO ties to any sort of extremist, even if you disagree with their views. The fact that the Republican campaign is investing so much time siting Obama's past relationships (relationships that he's EXPLAINED in detail over and over) is pretty sad.

but is being straight forward necessarily a bad thing? I think about the slack Wright received when he said politician do what they do and preachers do what they do and the media took that to mean that politicians lie. Granted, he should have worded this better, but the role of a preacher, especially in the black church, is to call into judgement those things he believes are contrary to God's will. Preachers are subject to the will of God. Politicians are subject to the will of the people.
I think u might be referring to the AIDS controversy. There are 2 interesting points about Wright's assertions on AIDS. (1) The US gov has a history with medically experimenting with its citizens-the Tuskegee Exp, which took place during his lifetime up until the 1970's is a prime example. (2) More so, the extremity of that statement forces us to accept that our gov does some absurd things and that we should weary of thst. Selling WMDs to Iraq; then using that fact as justification for invasion.
I do not listen to Farrakhan. God said my people hear my voice they will not hear another. I'm tired of being heaped into this "black america does this and that" steriotype!
Some Africans are light skinned buddy. Tanzania has more than 700,000 albinos. You may misfire if you judge them that way. Focus on the issues and facts.
Pastor Wright from what i've heard is extremely insightful. I'm so happy to know that our next President was a member of his church for an extended period of time that alone makes me confident that we will get the change that we have believed in.
He was a segregationist. Then, he changed his views and helped aid the Civil Rights struggle. But he provoked an uproar when he said in response to MLK's "I have a dream speech," "Only when Christ comes again will the little white children of Alabama walk hand and hand with little black children." He also called for a stop to the Civil Rights movement, "blacks and whites alike would benefit from a period of quietness in which moderation prevails."

I say all this not to legitimize everything Wright has said because although many black people support Wright, they don't agree necessarily with everything. However, they do get the context from which he speaks. I hope that makes sense.
true in most cases. Blacks can be prejudice, whites can be prejudice & or racist Whats the difference? Prejudice is Pre-judging. Meaning that its a thought & a perspective. like to assume something of someone because of their race Racist is someone that acts upon their prejudice. Like, not voting, not hiring, or discriminating against someone because of their race. So ask urself, what race is in the position to take action against others? last time i checked, whites have the money & power
I wouldn't say that "Wright comes across different" more so than I would say he is being portrayed a specific way by financial and politically vested interests. Wright's biggest mistake was engaging hostile media outlets in the first place.

pharm, I'm pretty sure jakeb is an Obama supporter. I also believe that Sen. Obama is going to make a fine president. One that the nation can finally be proud of.
