I thought this was absolutely great. Loved the sharp, rasping and bell dreary beginning to the song turning great cascades of emotion. these two thumbs up for sure!
Well, I was expecting a music video for Jeremy by Pearl Jam and I was pleasantly surprised with an amazing short film about achieving ones own freedom in the way that they themselves perceive freedom to be. My little brother was born developmentally delayed due to a pulminary collapse that happened when he was born prematurely and with the support of his family, he has this freedom every day. Thank you Mr. Salmon for your beautiful piece of Art.
I love the scene when he wakes up and he see´s the bell but he doesn´t use it. He wants to break his everyday life under one's own steam. It´s a very nice film.
I am astounded by the production quality of this short. The composition of characters, environment, music, and premise make for something that is all together greater than it's parts. I love the simplicity and the minimalistic approach. I hope pieces like this allow you to continue producing videos.
My grandfather had a bad back problem which caused him to have a hump like that. The ending is very touching, you are truly gifted in what you do, Jon.
Thats a marvelous video... If you listen to u2 's "with or without you'' together with it, right after he rings the bell at the begining it matches perfectly !!!! Congratz on the short its one of the most stunning things I've ever seen...
I loved your "kids" video, I was amazed!! I've never seen a student, or anyone below professinal level make a vid nearly as great as that one was. If you can make more videos, please do. It's a priviledge watching them. The actors you chose for these 2 vids are very good also. The girl in kids was so joyful and emotional that I felt like it was an actual group. I'm so glad I never heard that song because I was able to judge by first impression, and your video made a good one.
This was amazing. While, yes, it could be longer, the fact remains that, as soon as the guy wakes up and his mother helps him shower, you already feel for him. I know I did. And needless to say, I cried when he saw his wings, and I took one of those deep-breath/gasps. This was wonderful.
Yeah it was a class requirement that it be under 6 mins. I agree about the character though, you don't really have time to know why you should care. I hoped the short daydreaming at the window would help us to drum up some conflict and respect, but it does suffer from happening too quickly because in trying to get the cut down I could never linger on anything.
yeah I figured that, thats why I didn't judge soley on that. I actually just thought to myself, okay let me judge it for the 6 min that it is, and you did really really well, I don't think someone could put the energy that you put in under this time for this theme and plot. Like you said the window was great, I also liked the melody used because it's sort of has that "thinking vibe" like it sucks you into the film. Kind of hard to explain but you know what I mean, your the one that did it lol
To me it's not so much a change from a cripple to an angel but a representation of growing up. Going from needing your mother to help you with everything to taking off to experience the world... there's a reason "leaving the nest" is another way to say growing up and moving out... ya know?
I thought it was a dorsal fin at first. I thought he was going to turn into a shark. It would have been cooler is he turned into a shark. No better. Just cooler.
Wonderfull, I love it *-* So the short it's about a boy that he couldn't do anything one day something beautiful grews into his and he can do another things that he couldn't do? The short it's about it? That you should wait for something grows in you? It's amazing! ^^
It does have that angular look to it doesn't it? What'd you make the wings out of? just out of professional curiosity lol. It was very good! Much better than I've done so far...
Looked good. Well done. I'm a bit confused though - what was wrong with the guy that he was bedridden? Anyone want to help me out on this? My interpretation was he had an illness in his back and it turned into wings. Where the wings a dream or real?
That music video was better than the original. WAY better, the musics vibe was greatly influenced by your picture. I actually like the song now because your video lol. Well I'll stop ranting, theres too much to say when it comes to this stuff. I'm a fan when it comes to film thats why I like to be a critic :) Well anyways, best of luck to you.
my honest opinion..... It was too short, in order for someone to feel the sadness in a character, there has to be a point when they bond with them, thats why long movies with sad plots always seem to make people emotional. You showed us something sad, then you showed us something great, but there was no point where viewers could bond with the humpback character, it needs to be worked up.
