Jeremy Fears (Michigan State) and Cameron Christie (Minnesota) are considered by many to be the top two high school senior basketball players in Illinois. Their teams, Joliet West (15-4) and Rolling Meadows are having their best seasons in years (both top 10 in Illinois). The Illinois Mr Basketball contenders and future Big Ten basketball rivals met on the court at the 2023 Steve Pappas Shootout at DePaul Prep in Chicago. The game went down to the final shot and we saw some of the best basketball of the season (in Illinois at least).
In the end Jeremy Fears Jr hit the game winner with 3 seconds left 62-60. He finished with game high 26 points. We heard there were 24 lead changes in the game. Jeremiah Fears finished with 14 points. Justys Mcnair and Drew King added seven.
Cam Christie led Rolling Meadows with 19 points, 7 rebounds despite being fouled repeatedly. Mark Nikolich-Wilson had 16 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists. He needs a scholarship! Sotirov added 10 points.
Thanks to everyone at Depaul prep. Check out these basketball highlights from 2023 Steve Pappas Shootout! This might be the best game of the year?!
