The video and your reactions weren't boring at all, they were honest and real and that, as you said, is the most important part of a reaction! About the song "brooks", that's my least favorite song of the album but I read a thing that made me change my mind a lot about it. When Jeremy says "and this kid I knew in college, he just died on a plane" he is talking about a real person that he knew, who died during a plane trip, changing his world and shocking him out of nowhere.
