What was your biggest takeaway from Jermaine Jones' interview?
@jakebrugger3297
@jakebrugger3297 2 года назад
20 years from now almost none of the players that play for any national team in the world right now will still be playing. It all depends on how the generation coming up 10 to 20 years from now stack up. Theres no reason to count us out. We totally have a shot in the world cup 20 years from now if we have good enough infrastructure and passion for the sport by the end of the decade.

I agree wholeheartedly with what JJ said about players in MLS teams going to Europe opens spots for even more young players because for cases like George Bello he leaves and now Caleb Wiley has more minutes and so on and so forth then bringing more attention to the league national team and soccer in the US in general great video as always Pete

Interesting, I was actually at a watch party at one of the local soccer bars in Milwaukee for that Portugal game. There were probably several hundred people filling up that street corner and watching the game on a projector. That goal that Jermaine scored was absolutely nuts. To his credit, Cristiano Ronaldo‘s cross into the box that tied the game at the end was also pretty damn sick.

One of my favorite life memories, such an incredible goal. Jermaine was such a fighter on the pitch, his spirit was unbelievable. He never played scared and his honesty off the pitch is refreshing. I really hope he gets an opportunity to coach in MLS and bring his passion and knowledge of the game to a club.

I'm going to post this several places but I would love to hear some conversation about it at some point. So we have to get through this world cup. But what type of effect do you think the changes to 2026 will have. Especially no draws in the pool matches. Reading through the World Cup 26 info, it appears that they going to go directly to penalty kicks after full time. Is this going to lead to more upsets, fewer upsets, etc. Is it better for the game?

GGG was a bad fit for the USMNT 3 years ago. This is old news really. He is incapable of picking a roster (bringing 1 winger to a tournament, or 1 LB to a 3 game qualifying window), he is incapable of deciding upon who his best players on said poorly constructed roster even are, and he has no clue how to use his substitutes. Furthermore, he has one idea. One. That's it. And when it doesn't work he changes to....... nothing. He is not capable of changing away from that one idea no matter how badly that idea is failing. He has talked for three years about this "SYSTEM" of his yet where is it? Sorry but GGG is not qualified to be a national team manager.

Jermaine Jones would have been 36 or 37 and had a torn knee ligament the year prior. Love his confidence but I'm not sure he was one of our best 18 or 23 at that time.
@thefandomrealm
@thefandomrealm 2 года назад
Let me start off by saying I absolutely despise Klinsman with all the pashion that current fans hate GGG. However, (I can't believe I'm saying this) but I wonder if he wouldn't be the best coach for the job at this point in our development. He is a very good strategically but not tactically. He would likely keep it simple. And hopefully he has learned something from not choosing Landon for the 2014 team. I always say if the baseline for a team is how they would go out and play a pickup game with no coaches. Then you have to judge coaches based on how much they improve that baseline. My feeling is that most coaches wouldn't achieve to the baseline. Good coaches would get the players to perform to their level (baseline). Great coaches would have them play and achieve over their baseline. (Just to let you know, there is a small handful of these coaches world wide. GGG falls into lowest category, Klinsman in the middle and maybe Pep in the highest (and a few others). I don't know?

You have to realize Klinsman didn't just coach the team but he change the mindset of the American player encourage them to go to Europe early to learn Klinsman is one the reason American young players are evolving
@paulmiller7838
@paulmiller7838 2 года назад
We need to push for US Soccer, and MLS to improve their scouting system for their youth development program. And further than that, they need to bring in BETTER youth coaches to train these young players in a better way. No more CB's who only know how to play as "big strong brutes" but who can be physical AND skillful, just as one example. As we grow our young talent and yes, the best of the best will always get picked off by the European clubs, but there will be better kids moving into MLS, USL and the like and improving the overall skill level of both domestic leagues. If we want to grow as a Soccer nation, it all starts with the youth. Better scouting, better coaching, and if need be US Soccer could / should subsidies a certain amount of money to fund youth systems to encourage teams in MLS and possibly even USL to grow their youth systems even more. But US Soccer is corrupt as all hell so this is just a pipe dream.

Jermaine is correct on everything except Klinsmann. He's overstating his importance to the development and vision of the USSF. They are mostly benefiting from teams' investment in academies finally starting to pay off, so it was going to happen with or without Jurgen's input. His biggest contribution was probably the active search for European dual nationals.
@brian898
@brian898 2 года назад
Klinsmann Was a horrible coach but great in development. I doubt we get the courage to start 19-20 year olds without Klinsmann doing It first. So Klinsmanns impact was huge for our vision but people are biased because he ruffled feathers.
@dkhatten
@dkhatten 2 года назад
Klinsmann was huge for development, that was his role with Löw in Rebuilding Germany. His tactics were never good, that was Löw‘s role and Klinsmann pushed youth development, same he did in US. He changed a lot of US coaching curriculum and pushed youth development and for academies. Many dislike Jürgen for his tactics (and they should), but use that to not give him credit where it’s due.
