I love that Jerry doesn’t go for the brass ring when you expect it…he meanders, wanders, pokes around….always interesting…and then POW…he hits those sublime licks
God, thank you for the gift of Jerry and allowing me to live on this earth at the same time he did. The man wrote the soundtrack to my life, ( with Robert Hunter and Bobby of course)!
You are now enlightened. Never call yourself a loser, there's enough OTHER non-Deadheads who will do it for you. Just remember, the whole essence of being a Deadhead is to be peaceful and non-confrontational and to offer loving acceptance. HAVE A GRATEFUL DAY!
This is the show where he performed After Midnight~Elinor Rigby. He only did that run only a couple of times. That is 20 minutes of pure ear candy. This song at the Stone, this night is 14 minutes of pure ear candy. This show is one of Jerry's finest nights ever! I can say that with certainty because I was at this show. 🎉❤😅
Oh, the streets of Rome are filled with rubble Ancient footprints are everywhere You could almost think that you're seeing double On a cold, dark night on the Spanish Stairs Got to hurry on back to my hotel room Where I got me a date with a pretty little girl from Greece And she promised she'd be right there with me When I paint my masterpiece Oh, the hours we'd spent inside the Coliseum Dodging lions and a-wasting time Oh, those mighty kings of the jungle, I hardly stand to see 'em It sure has been a long, hard climb Train wheels running through the back of my memory When I ran on the hilltop following a pack of wild geese Someday everything is gonna sound like a rhapsody When I paint my masterpiece Sailing 'round the world in a dirty gondola Oh, to be back in the land of Coca-Cola I left Rome, and landed in Brussels On a plane ride so bumpy I almost cried Clergy men in uniform and young girls pulling muscles Everyone was there to greet me when I stepped inside Newspaper men eating candy Had to be held down by big police Someday everything's gonna be different When I paint that masterpiece
Fuck I wish I had a Band like this!.. I can play rhythm guitar and sing just about anything, actually working on this song right now.. I need a lead guitar player with Jerry spirit ⚡
I was a bit taken aback by this. I'm going to make some money by betting my friends that Garcia sang this song before Weir. Ya learn something new every day.
❤ The Stone in SF and The Keystone in Berkeley and Palo Alto were my favorite venues to hear them perform. I have so many happy memories of shows there. 😅🎉❤
🌹 Keystone Palo Alto was my favorite...was blessed to have been taken back by an H.A. to meet Jerry in 77 when I snuck in at barely 16 years old...lol 🙏 Met the band in 79, first Phil....family now ❤️
The best JGB tour of ALL! Respect to Ozzie Ahlers on keys, and Joey D on drums, never been like this before or since. so special. Please share this with someone who is as yet unenlightened.
I’m a Bob fan love all Dylan’s work with the Band now I am also a Garcia fan. This is absolutely incredible!!! Jerry playing a Bob song with the band. Can’t get enough of this absolutely amazing recording. So grateful. Thank you

One of my favorite times was seeing Dylan and the Dead opening up the Highgate show in 95. It was so cool to get to see them together. Crazy that it was just about 2 months before it all came off the rails.
And noone ever will sound like this again. You'll never capture lightning in a bottle twice. Jerry, Dylan, and the Dead were once in a millennium. Thank God I was lucky enough to see them all and call myself a Deadhead. It's the title I'm most proud of
