This was the production that got me hooked on Cosi, particularly Hadley's performance. Un'aura amorosa is when the comedy up to this point suddenly becomes something more. Ferrando is a romantic who is not just playing at love. For him there is a deeper meaning. Beginning to open up all the bittersweet emotions coming in the second act. Brilliant Mozart. Brilliant production. Brilliant singing.

interesting--hadley answers don al fonso's question conversationally (talky, fast) and then does the repeat (slower) as a personal reverie...ok, but the aria is among mozart's uniquely most beautiful tunes from beginning to end, and oh, how i wish hadley started it as a reverie instead of a smart conversational reply, cutting off half of mozart and turning it into flippancy--jerry, didn't you want to sing every 8-bar line as mozart's most beautiful 3/8?--and the extended cadences? aren't they the most exquisite extended over-repeated one-last-kiss? you didn't do that, pal--was it the gig--was it the director...well, now here you are immortalized on youtube
Jerry considered everything! Originally, he intended to be a CONDUCTOR and musically thought from that perspective. He sang it with the charm that was HIS choice always making strong bold choices.
