Traviata trio with Chorus. 1990! Jerry Hadley (June 16, 1952 July 18, 2007) was a student of my teacher from 1978, after getting his masters degree in music from the University of Illinois in 1977. He then started teaching at the University of Connecticut. A 1993 article by Noël Goodwin in Opera magazine stated, "After 15 years Hadley still goes back to this Sicilian American who, he says, gave him confidence and secure knowledge of what he is doing with his voice at any given time, through teaching methods that are direct and physiological." Hadley also stated, "(I was) lucky above all else to have found a teacher in New York without whom I really doubt I could have really built the career I have." Here he displays wonderful balanced vocal registration and release of constriction which are the cornerstones of the technique that he learned and that I teach.

It's not just his excellent singing. Jerry is feeling and projecting Alfredo's anguish. Jerry is always THINKING and FEELING.

Well, it is time for a resurgence of great singing. Opera has been in a lull for quite sometime. We had Caruso, Destinn, Battistini, Ruffo etc., then a lull. Then we had DM, Corelli, Tebaldi, Callas, then another lull. Time for another high period!:):)

These comments on Jerry are so sentimental... He was truly amazing, and I wish he was still here so I could have had a chance to have heard such an amazing voice in my late appreciation for opera.

He had incredible technique and surprising performance. How we need singers like him today.

Hadley reached his vocal height and success under the care of Tom LoMonaco. He voice in the1980's and early 90' was incredible. He was completely undeveloped in the 1970's, just coming out of college.

@MrCafiero He performed a concert at my college in the early 2000's and was absolutely brilliant--I remember being blown away by his acting and interpretation of the songs as well as his beautiful voice.

To the ignorant poster who was very eloquent in his/her critisism of Diana Soviero - try being a bit more constructive rather than plain rude. Ms Soviero has a wonderful voice with acting skills to match.She sang over 100 times at the Met - not too shabby.Have you had a career in singing as good as that?
@xxsaruman82xx87

Scotto had a great career. Does that make her a great singer?

@@xxsaruman82xx87 No, but she sure was entertaining AF. This is always good for a laugh: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-F3YTeD71Cwo.html And just for the record, I love Soviero in this clip. After she lets loose on "Invitato a qui seguirmi," the way she pares down her voice on "Alfredo, Alfredo, di questo core" is just absolutely heartbreaking.

При всех достоинствах Хэдли и его коллег эту оперу певали солисты и получше. А вот хор очень хорош. И очень неплох дирижёр - настолько, что я был бы не против найти его имя в описании, что мне сделать не удалось, как ни странно.

Too bad Jerry felt the need to take his own life. Being an artist must be very tortureous at times.
