I’ve always thought they were yes men, mostly because of how they just repeat what he says (like when pat does his funny chants and they repeat them), they do that all the time but u bring up a valid point. They really just go with him no matter what. I love a lot of pats opinions but tony romo was a beast before injuries and it’s like no one remembers this
Maybe 7 times more exciting... I guess... Dak is an unconventional pocket passer so of course everyone thinks he is bringing a new gen of QBs to the league. (Not comparing him to Lamar though, Lamar is his own man) we've seen many of 'Daks' before and we will see them again... I don't get the hype or why people think that QBs with daks play style change the game.... But eh this may be the wrong thread to be voicing this on... Dak is a poor man's John Elway (that comparison might be poor in many eyes but that's how I see him.)
Y'all getting it twisted. Jerry just doesn't want to pay him 40 million a year. Lets not forget Russ gets 35 and he's an MVP candidate with a super bowl ring doing it with no help. Dak doesn't deserve to be paid that much. If he would take the carson wentz deal he'd be signed by now. Everyone on Jerry like it doesn;t take 2 to tango. Dak's gotta give ground on that dollar amount and he'd be paid tomorrow.
would never say he's 7 times better, but romo never had the clutch gene, could never win the big game when everything was on his shoulders, and he's made some pretty stupid plays. i'm not here saying he was bad, but i won't say he was good. i remember seeing him, and he is above average. i'd rather have dak. he isn't proven to be better, but he is proven to be above average at qb and a good athlete, and that's more than romo was.

Its about the cap hit percentage to the salary cap. Since 2005, no team has won the superbowl and had their qb count more than 12% of the salary cap. Only 5 times has it been more than 10%. May go beyond 2005, but that's as far back as I could go. And not their base salaries but their ultimate cap hit that year

john landry well, respect his opinion 1st of all. 2nd Romo is just not a good qb. Look at RG3. He was a Qb that was decent. If he actually played without an injury he would be a good quarterback.same with Romo
john landry Romo was a good upper mid level QB who got stuck with bad defenses then injuries. He was not a top tier QB. If we can be honest about this that’s where it sits. Underrated probably, but he’s not some football God descended from heaven.
As a Cowboys fan I strongly disagree. Romo was a much smarter and better QB than Dak. I like Dak but Romo has no O-line while Dak has everything and still can’t win. Dak has got to get better or he is out.
Personally I would like to disagree because you are comparing a vet to a 4 year player. Romo did play for a long time at a pretty good level when he did start but Dak has shown he has an ability to win and maybe with another coach you could see some more drastic improvements
Romo would’ve had a SB with the Cowboys in 2014 if the Refs didn’t gift Greenbay and Rodgers the win in that playoff game by calling Dez Bryant’s catch incomplete

Don't let the state fool you there are some inconsistencies in Prescott's game that might stagnate that team. Probably why they are reluctant to pay him.

Romo had a SB calibur team a few times or at least good teams specifically 2006* , 2007, 2009 and 2014 (Dez no catch) but just didnt get it done. I would've brought Romo back in after he was hurt but I understood Dallas riding the hot hand in Dak. (16' Yr. Packers beat them @home)
As long as Jerry Jones is the owner and a football expert (in his mind, at least), it will be crisis du jour/week/season. I grew up as an East Texas boy who grew up a Cowboy fan, but starting with his treatment of first Tom Landry and then Jimmy Johnson I gave them up.
As a Dallas fan I’m frustrated by the lack of a contract, I just don’t know who they’d get to replace him right now and I don’t think we wanna watch another season where we’re headed by a college rookie, have an inconsistent team, and fail to make the playoffs again. Dak has made or the coach has made bad decisions, like random deep balls on 3rd, but he’s a good quarterback, a good leader, and he has a good relationship with his guys. Give him the fucking contract
Romo was better than dak, romo had better stats back in 2006 when it was actually rare to have good passing statistics, not to mention none of the rosters romo played on were even close to how good the roster is on Daks teams
I have been a Cowboys fan for 28 years and I lived thru the 90's and 3 Super Bowls. But here in the last 10-15yrs, the Cowboys have been a 50-50 team as far as expectations..we may win, but may lose. Time for a 21st century change with a bit of fundementals.

Dak is about on par with Romo minus the outright choking in big games. He's a 10-6, one and done in the playoffs kind of QB, which is the absolute worst because he seems good enough that you could do worse yet will never win you the big one. He doesn't merit a windfall but will probably get it from someone, if not Jerry Jones.

Just the way they did him by letting dak takeover the show was messed up. Garrett wouldnt even let Romo compete for the starting job. Whats that tell ya.
Dak is not an elite qb. He's an average to above average qb. Do the cowboys really want to tie up all that cap space on an average to above average qb? If he gets paid like an average qb then fine. He should not be getting Russell Wilson money.
