He's up there in heaven, playing music with Elvis and Johnny and Carl. The million dollar quartet is back together. RIP the last legend of the birth of Rock n roll.
Others might not agree but he was a showman! He was wild but he was a performer who made heads turn. He lived his life the way he saw fit. That was Jerry Lee Lewis!
Please America, stop the hate and division because one day we all will enter immortality and our thoughts whether good or bad will cease. Only the love of God will live on forever. Choose this day which to serve, Love or Hate.
wheres keith richards ronnie wood zz top jimmy page even elton john white stripes ?? every musician who made a penny with rock should be there to pay respect to this legend. LOVE YOU JERRY LEE!
Absolutely agree, the rolling stones didn't even turn up for Charlie Watts funeral, with that in mind they skipped Brian Jones funeral too, I've lost respect for a lot of artists.
I have his original LP with all of his country gold on it, he covers Doug Kershaw the fiddle playin Cajun`s Louisiana Man, had a little baby boy they called Ned, raised him on the banks of the riverbed, houseboat tied to a big, tall tree home for Mama Papa and me, we had hides hangin by the dozen even had room for their Muskrat cousin, Daddy would go hunting a catching anything he can, gotta make a livin he`s a Louisiana Man, the man could jam on anything
may he rest in peace. Years ago when my now husband and I were dating, we went to see him. I had no idea that he was going to perform. He was not just talented musically but he did an amazing show. Rest in peace, Jerry Lee, thank you for the music 🙏
@@elvis2014 sounds awesome! when my husband and I were dating (years ago) we went to see him, he was an amazing musician! Playing the piano with his rear end! lol!
@@constancelena Hi Annie, if you still love Jerry Lee as much as I do then I know its a shock but I have good news I just spent the last 4 hours watching a series of videos they have on here with Jerry over the last 20 yrs or so but what blew my mind was Jeff Healey being led by Jerry through the crowd and let me tell ya that told me something real quick about Jerry Lee he knew ungodly talent and I overheard the singer say that Jerry would never take the stage again without him. This is an early Xmas present if you dig the blues and if you do watch any of it when Jeff Healey is just shredding away, I want you to look at the eyes and or expressions on the faces of Carl Perkins, BB king etc. all the guitar players stare in wonderment at Jeff because none of them are anywhere close to this cat. Stevie Ray said Jeff was the best.
He was a simple man - very talented and loved - but humble. He learned to honor his God , made music from his soul, and loved his fans. This funeral and burial place was perfectly suited to his nature. R.I.P. Killer!
I hope he's in Heaven playing that piano! He's the Last of the original creators of Rock and Roll to pass. All the others have gone before him. Earth's loss, Heaven's Gain.
Jerry Lee Lewis, What a gift to Rock & Roll. What a gift to the World. What a treasure for heaven. God bless his soul, his family and all of his loyal fans.
Another Rock and Roll Legend leaves us ! Jerry Lee was indeed one of the pioneers of rock and roll and gave a new meaning to 'just playing the piano' , he set that piano alight with his vamping and crazy antics. His songs are everlasting , like Great Balls of Fire , Whole Lot of Shaking Going On and the list goes on! What a great !!RIP Killer
I thought it would have been quite a star studded affair but I'm pleased to see it was a very humble and quiet funeral. He brought a lot of happiness to people through his music. Rest In Peace x
Yes Ms. Bryan or Irene, I`ve seen him in smoked filled rooms at the far end of the stage and when he started his unique hurtin blues songs that the radio never played, everyone was mesmerized by his style his effortless piano playing of blues like we never heard before or since, he made the 88 keys cry right beside him as he sang the blues and you would swear he was giving his performance all he had like he was dyin never to sing again and the pain and loneliness he made you feel? so bad you would feel sorry for him. A SUN RECORD GENIUS PART OF THE MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET EAP
Jerry Lee was my favourite. The greatest rock and roller ever. Imagine my reaction when I was contacted to see if I could provide him with an amplifier, for his evening's show in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire. I was so fortunate to meet him.
Yes Keith, he was Fantastic. I saw him when I was a lad - along with Gene Vincent on his UK tour at the Birmingham Town Hall - the Fire Dept. were there in force. He brought the house down when he set fire to his piano for his final number. RIP Killer
I first heard Jerry in 1957 in the UK, I had the honor of seeing him perform live many years later, and now as an 80-year-old man, my tears fall. Thank you Jerry for many many years of musical pleasure. As far as pure Rock n Roll goes, you were indeed THE KING.
@@teencykizmitt9955 I said 'as far as pure rock n roll goes'', Jerry was king. As one who has Elvis's autograph and all his records, I understand what you mean but Jerry never deserted his roots to make silly childish films. that was my point.
i got to see him in Fort Worth TX in '95, he came in a few minutes late to a private show, put on the most intense 2 hour show, jumped in his limo and took off just as fast! I will never forget his energy. RIP
True after there service up get cast to yhe waste side my mom was v.a. nurse for 7 year and it made her sick how vet get treatment and treat after service up
My sincere sympathy to the family. To the squeezebox player thank you so much for that rendition of amazing grace - blessings! When we all get to heaven what a day of rejoicing that will be When we all see Jesus We'll sing and shout the victory!!
I am Navy retired and therefore a veteran. I don't need nor want a funeral like this. I enlisted out of love for my country not for all these bells and whistles or freebies some veterans feel the country owes them. I am being cremated and my ashes sent to sea onboard one of our fine Navy ships along with other veterans wanting to go out the same way. Given how well known Jerry Lee Lewis was, this funeral was really modest unlike Michael Jackson's, just one example of extravagance at it's worst. Whitney Houston's was also overkill. RIP Mr. Lewis. Thank you for some amazing music.
You are right about some veterans. I think a lot of them did it for the recognition and benefits. I know one trying to get full disability from the VA because he saw someone get stabbed on leave during peace time. What a hero!
Why do you feel the need to bring up Whitney Houston’s and Michael Jackson’s funeral? It is not our place to judge whether their funerals were “extravagance at its worst “ it was their funeral just as is was Mr. Lewis’ funeral. It is amazing that people have the audacity to judge other peoples home going! Let’s just pray that they all made it into GOD’S KINGDOM!
@@pearlsgirl4236 just pointing out that Mr Lewis's funeral was far more modest then Michael's and Whitney's. Wasn't judging them. Their money to waste. Or their family's to waste I should say. Then there was the huge cost of law enforcement needed to control the large crowds that gathered for these two televised funerals. It is a little sad that you never see the funeral of a war hero covered live on a major news channel if you want to be a total jerk about me making a simple observation about two extremely talented musicians that literally killed themselves through drug abuse. Now I am being judgemental. They had a choice to not do drugs. A service member does not have a choice about being sent into battle. Get your priorities right.
@@susanburnworth7893 my priorities are absolutely straight. And it really doesn’t matter who had/has a modest or extravagant funeral. A war hero, a rock and roll star, a drug addict, a saint or sinner, in the end we all must bow our knees to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords…..Jesus Christ! Why do we judge another person’s life or death when we all have to die as well. We should not worry/care about police escorts or media coverage for those who are dead. We should be caring about how we are living! And as a matter of fact a person who dies from a drug overdose is no less than a person who has lived as a pedophile. I like the music of JLL, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, etc. And I appreciate ALL that American service people have done for this country, however one group or person is no better than the other! Blessings, Grace and Mercy to you and yours!
I'm from Argentina and I'm a big fan of him, I was lucky enough to see The Killer live in concert 30 years ago and it blew my mind, he was the King of Rock and Roll and with all due respect, first Jerry Lee and then Elvis…. May you rest in peace, Jerry Lee, the heaven will vibrate with your piano…
From a Brit who was a teenager when Jerry was turning out great rock & roll recordings this truly is sad. He was a bit of a wild lad at times but that and his great voice and piano playing endeared him to me. Play him regularly. RIP Killer.
No matter what he did or how he lived his personal life he is a rock&roll legend and deserves our respect like Elvis would have said Thank you! Thank you very much!!! 🙏Rest in peace, my friend.
Got to see Jerry play in person in Nashville. I was like 13 or 14. It was in 92 I think. Played great balls of fire on the piano. R.I.P. and condolences to the family.
My husband and I saw him perform in Portland, Maine, many, many years ago................and what a performance!!! He played the piano with everything, his hands, his feet, and even his butt. He was terrific and I've always admired his talent.
I have been a fan of Jerry Lee Lewis right about 40 plus years I even had that pleasure of meeting Jerry Lee Lewis, when he opened his club and Lafayette Louisiana years back. And I tell you what what a pleasant man and to trash him like perverted so-called people are doing. A man walks with dignity and integrity under the protection of God almighty
Jerry Lee Lewis was an entertainer. He changed your life no Jesus changes lives I saw him in person Jerry Lee Lewis. His cousin Jimmy Swaggart is my Pastor. Jesus changed my life
@@robincoar9824 I said he changed my life, not my soul. I was raised in a full blown pentecostal home and Jimmy was my parents hero, ironically my dad was legally named "Jimmy Lee" also. I respect Jimmy but I can relate to Jerry Lee. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Just a simple country funeral by a Country Preacher preaching to Word of Salvation in a small Country Funeral Home. In the end,it doesn't matter what your status down here was when you leave this Life. What's important is if you accepted King Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. And That's all that matters. Jerry Lee Lewis done that.✝️🎆
Worked a job next to his house. Big piano on his gate was neat. Every year his ex wife got a new mustang convertible for her birthday. A respectful burial. Thank you for posting
My Mom and my Aunt Carol would get all decked out in the late 60's and go see Jerry Lee in mostly Kansas City. They had several photos taken with him/band over the years. Totally loved him!!! BIG BIG hairdos, sixties double knit outfits, scarves the whole nine..... They were chubby, but they did not care. They kept it classy!😂❤️ I feel certain if allowed, they were waiting on him....🇺🇲
From Arizona, my condolences to the family and friends of Jerry Lee Lewis. Glad I got to see Brother Jimmy Swaggart singing with Jerry Lee Lewis on RU-vid.
Thank you for this upload!! Jerry Lee and his kind are truly an era gone by! Not putting down the kids coming out now, but they forever have a road map of the ins, outs, do’s and don’ts with this man’s handwriting all over it!! First generation of true road warriors that had to figure out for themselves how to not let it all drive them insane or in the ground!! He outlasted them all!! R.I.P Killer!! ❤
Just learned he past away today. I didn’t know until now. I am saddened and shocked. He was a legend and I remember listening to his music with my grandfather… I would always check in every few months online to see how he is doing… I checked today and I seen something I didn’t wanna see. At least he lived a long life and he was an amazing musician. Hopefully he is resting finally after all the rock n roll. RIP Jerry. Thanks for being a part of my childhood
From italy :...so sad that im far away and did not had chance to be there to greet this "giant of an artist" for last time.... I am a health clinic worker where I live. We get many clients and ( as people do ) some sometimes pass away. We had one particular elderly lady who had beautiful all white hair, she kept it fairly long and in a combed back style. She sadly passed earlier this year. Her grand daughter came into the clinic where I work just yesterday. She knows me and when she saw me she quietly approached me with a stunned kind of look on her face and said " something weird happened with her family on Saturday - just two days ago - at the time. A cousin of hers had been staying at the family home and was taking selfies of herself in the house. She was looking back over the pictures - and there very CLEARLY was their old grandmother in the background. Full view with the long white combed back hair - only in the photo it had more of a glow to it. I asked the grand daughter of this lady if I could see the picture. She later - after her appointment was kept - showed me. The small fine hairs on my arm stood up as I set eyes on the recently taken picture. I clearly recognised this lady ( a one time client of our health clinic ) as she sat in the photo - partially sitting side on - on a chair or possible lounge as if she never left them. !
