Ah, if I was the interviewer, I'd be giggling most way through and probably asked him for a sip of his bourbon (I can only presume that) too! Lol What I like about Jerry Lee is the fact he tells it like it is and doesn't try a paint a phony image of himself. He is a legend no matter what troubles & tragedies he went through over the years, he came out the other side with his big, sly smile and playing his heart out! (I miss his wavy blonde hair though, especially when he used to crazy on the piano and fell over his eyes.) RIP Jerry Lee a.k.a. "The Killer" forever & always 😊😂❤
@@dannycampo2129 He doesn't think he's all that funny, he's just drunk and trying to throw in some humor in a very uncomfortable situation. You like him better on stage, and I'm sure he would rather be on stage.
@@God0Mighty1 I fully understand, I am and have been for years a big fan of his music. But he did think he was cute/funny on this interview and my opinion is it did not make him look very appealing that's all I am saying,. With that said I can separate the two. Take care.
@@dannycampo2129 Yeah. I see what you are saying. Jerry Lee Lewis was most certainly a great musical artist, regardless of what anybody might think about rock and roll or the Devil's music or whatever, he did his thing and he did it well. I just thought, he looked nervous, uncomfortable, and even angry here, and I didn't know if it was him just trying to be cute, or funny, or just dealing with the situation as he felt like it needed to be dealt with at the time, but either way, Jerry Lee Lewis was apparently a great artist, but a flawed individual, in some ways, as so many of them are. Jerry Lee Lewis, definitely ia a top shelf musical artist . One of the true greats of rock and roll.
Honest? He's a pathological liar and a deeply disturbed individual. And because you don't understand this reality, you yourself are very seriously disturbed.
@Cody Rucker Because anyone who has studied this guy, clearly understands how messed up he was. In many interviews he comes across as arrogant and deeply insecure. He beat women. He had a HUGE inferiority complex. And, he had just a few measly hits. And that's why he always felt deeply insecure when anyone mentioned the king.
@@geoffreyparsons4353 Guess what? We all know about his status as one of the pioneers of rock n roll. No one disputes that. But next to the soul depth and diversity of elvis presley, he's small potatoes. And if you had an ounce of intelligence, you'd understand that fact.
This was cool to watch! This guy is hard to read, he's either uber intelligent or dumb as a rock I cant tell! He seems arrogant as hell at times, but also has every right to be. He was a madman on those ivory's and probably in bed too if I had to guess. He sure has some southern charm in him, and probably had a way with the ladies. In closing, he's completely my type LOL
It certainly doesn't look easy to interview Jerry Lee - even feeding his ego doesn't guarantee he won't snap at you! He doesn't like answering the same old questions, and if you do get him to talk, he'll mumble and ramble at random and include a few bits you can't put on TV... And then he might start demanding to know whether the interviewer has been sanctified..
The music industry (and life) isn't easy task, seeing him laughing it all out just makes him a winner. He's still alive today thank God and I hope he laughs and be happy until his last day. GREAT rock n roller! (my personal favorite). a speacial treat: 21:54 (this applies to today's music) Greetings from Brasil!!
Do you or anyone else have the National Auditorium Of Mexico live concert with Jerry Lee Lewis and James Brown in 1991 ? I'm a fan of both singers and would like to see it. Thanks. 🎹❤️🎹🌹🔥
Goree Carters Rock Awhile (1949), is probably the first true Rock and Roll song, at least the 1st with electric guitar. But the 1st is always ahead of his time, and paves the way for all these other greats to follow. But I always think ....what if ?? On other things, this interview is funny AF, and actually one of his best interviews. Ahhhhh Jerry Lee, music aside, I really want to dislike you as a person, but against my better judgement, I just can't, you are too funny and if boorish and egocentric could be charming, then you could definitely make it so 👏🎯😆
Jerry unfiltered. You have to keep looking and listening because he compels your attention. He’s got that “it thing” going on both off and on stage. He’s the real deal. I call them originals, a whole new mold-he calls them stylists that you can count on one hand-and he is one of them. Due to attention on his chaotic private life he’s never gotten his due as the seminal, complete-package artist he really is.
Jerry Lee was torn between two worlds. He had a God given talent and in his own words later in life said he knew he was always doing the devils buisness. Therefore, was a tormented soul. Once you have been raised in the church such as he was you can never get away from it. Like many, he turned to substance to drown out his true calling. I'm very thankful the last few years of his life he made his soul right with God. "It's how a man dies"!
Would you like to tell us/me, about the sins his cousin, Jimmy Lee Swygart, the TV preacher committed throughout his life ? No one ever says anything about him. Don't you find this strange/odd ? Just saying...
@@country8543 Are you kidding?! You must be too young to remember the scandal and the backlash Jimmy Swaggart had to pay for his sin. He was reduced in man's eye to the shell of the man of God he was before it all came to light. If a man repents God forgives, but it is people who don't and won't forget. What a shame. If we are without sin, then cast the first stone. As far as Jerry Lee I was only repeating what he himself said. I have done a lot of research on the 3 talented Ferriday boys from Louisiana. BTW, I liked Jerry Lee Lewis!
I feel like maybe Jerry had a little too much to drink before the interview, ha ha. He's just having a good time goofing off and giving the interviewers a hard time. He's probably answered these questions so many times and now he's just having fun with it. Jerry Lee Lewis was full of confidence and like he said, you can't hurt him. He's gonna do and say whatever he wants. The interviewers here just seem so uptight and uncomfortable. They just don't seem to have a sense of humor so they're just not getting Jerry Lee at all.
LOVE this interview. Wish I could catch every single word of it. Jerry speaks fast sometimes and I miss some words here and there. Am used to Louisiana accent cause I live here, so am used to his accent.
@@SuperNoticer Some Louisiana accents are so thick, even people born here can't understand them. LOL. Creole and Cajun accents are quite different. Cajuns can even tell what town you're from by the accent. But you are correct. I am from Florida but have been here 26 years.
I lived in Columbia, LA for 20 years with my husband from there which is fairly close to Ferriday and so I feel like I know JLL. His way of life, speech patterns, personality, attitude could be so many I knew including my own husband. He had a big knife scar on his shoulder gotten in an after hours club when he was a kid.See what I mean? Where else can you get a drive-through daiquiri?
I was never a fan and didn't really know that he even had a song-book of any kind, i mean as far as i ever knew he had like one or three songs that ever got any attention and that was a long long tjme ago😮
Donald Trump....lol...JLL didnt not won 1B in back taxes and paid that 950K he owed. Remember he was making payments and the IRS came to his ranch and confiscated cars, pianos, jewelry, clothes etc......what did they do to Trump who hasn't paid a cent....nothing. .
Yes.......Yet if you are being an evangelical, just think of things after Adam and Eve...son to mother, father to grand daughter, mother to grand son, grandson to first cousin etc.......think about it. Like all of us, JLL made mistakes, yet is one of the greatest, especially behind those 88s.
Well deserved, though. You have to have a bit of an ego to make it in show business, and most of the greats had one: Chuck Berry, Elvis, Jerry, Little Richard, James Brown, Ray Charles.
@@michaeldonaghey i have competed in lots of sports in my life and have found that most people at the top of their game are pretty cocky and arrogant. good or bad Jerry had the talent and was and still is a bit over the top and a bit bombastic.
This fella is one of the rockNroll fathers from the first generation. He is a total legend but seems unsatisfied that the film is not about him. He had a chance to talk well and share his experiences and stories with all the rockNroll fans around the world. But instead he plays a pathetic disgraceful joker character. Hail hail Rock & Roll! 🤘😎
To leave Elvis out of it all he started the whole thing!!berry and Lewis have their place but let’s look at record sales that say it all who’s buying you’re records!!!
Elvis didn't start RnR. He was just the safe, handsome, Caucasian poster boy. Elvis was a preformer but Chuck, Jerry Lee, Little Richard, Bo Diddley, and countless others were Rockers. They brought the heat and gave us the foundation.
He is not honest, he only gives his opinion in favor of his idols, who thinks that the king can be left out of rock history. Elvis sang better than all of them combined and that bothers.@@shaunigothictv1003
As a huge fan, technically he wasn't a very good musician: could only play in a few keys, C, D, F and G - easy for the piano, couldn't read music at all and his technique was poor. It was stage presence and performance energy and aggression that made him stand out. He certainly couldn't outplay trained jazz or classical musicians. He was heavily influenced by Moon Mullican although he flitted between admitting this or saying nobody at all influenced his playing style. An odd man who comes across here as egotistical, unpredictable and a bit unhinged. Still, a good showman who made some timeless records.
