Never actually seen a 1967 Z/28 let a lone the RS option one. Actually own an original 1967 RS/SS was a 10 year old "Junk Car" that I purchased during a divorce case from the first owner as I was only 17 years old. Same rare paint code as yours except mine is still original never been repainted and shows nice enough still today. This car came factory air, the original block 350 still in as the 2 speed powerglide and 12 bolt rear end. Has the custom interior but is black with the white stripe seats. Full factory gauges on the console. One time ran across a guy with a 1968 Z/28 RS in the Mojave Desert while visiting my cousins. Since all those years I have come to know my car and all the other model options like rear flip down seats but back at the time all I knew is that I wanted a Camaro so guess just got luck finding mine bone stock and all.
67 RS Z28... 602 production of which Only 200 or so we're RS package With Deluxe Interior..... Super Rare.... I'd Never Had made that into a Race Car... OMG!
Known Jerry since High School! A true dedicated, meticulous, conscientious professional if ever there was one. The man knows his Chevrolets, he's about the best you'll find, that's why Barrett-Jackson uses him. Glad to see he has this beautiful rare Camaro, it couldn't be in better hands. He's also just a all around nice guy, a great friend!
I raced a 68 Z in 68 -70 our national record was 11.68 and in 70 the NHRA took our HP rating to 335 it was 315 in 68 and 69 the 290 may have been in 67 when the Wenzel's won the Nationals. I won some races at the Nationals and Spring Nationals but I never saw a car run close to this. Something has changed. My car is at "Camaro 68 Z28" and it's no phony.
I agree with him about the purist thing. As a 39 year old I still get excited about milking power out of camel humps and 292s than modern alloy head blah blah stuff
Hey Jerry just wanted to thank you for keeping all this history alive..I still have a 67 Z/28 and a documented all original 69 camaro ss/rs 396//375 hp ordered and delivered through the buffalo central office, hit me up for some cool rare parts I have collected over the years,
I saw my fist Z28 labor day sunday 1966 at P.I.D. Pgh.chevy called the track asked if they could make a pass the day was over but all the fans waited for them they showed up took off the open trailer made a pass 11s it was steel cities gray they would not open hood.
Jerry is a first class guy. I'm on the West Coast and have never met him personally. He did the carb and distributor work on my self restored 69 Z/28 RS number's matching car and over the phone. She's been a nice driver 24 years now.
I went to work for a local Chevrolet dealership in June 1967 right after I graduated high school , I also along with my fellow classmates get our notices to report to the draft board . Different story there . At the Chevy dealership there was a new 67 Z-28 Green exterior and deluxe black interior . The left front fender was damaged pretty bad and still had quite a bit of pieces of the creosote light pole the transport driver hit while he hot rodding the Z-28 . He delivered the Camaro in it's wrecked condition . The car was there for about 5 months and then it gone one morning when we went to work . Never did find out where the car went but it was NOT in the dealership body shop . The Z-28 had quite a few options was said to be a special order car .
Bravo for all your videos. Imagine if all the drivers back in the 60’s were interviewed like this then. So much information is preserved with the interviews.
@@driverinterviews At least its driven!! Most these cars sit and collect dust with owners afraid to hit 3k or it might explode . Craziness. This was my 1st ca in the 80s, one and only DD
Spoke with Jerry a few times on the phone about parts and about my Baldwin Camaro, great guy . Would like to have him certify my 67 SS/RS 396 big block car.
on stock stick cars do the have to clutch every shift or only at the start line ? thanks for showing all these class cars. much more fun to see them than the pro classes
Sick...I've got the same motor in my 2100# Model A 5-Window Coupe, 'cept I'm running 3 Rochester 2g's w/progressive linkage...hehehe.... .She is HARD to beat stoplight racing
Bobby what a fantastic person to interview he is mister Camaro himself I mean look at the car that he has that is a representation of what Jerry Mcneech is all about oh that would've won the best interview as you have done , I loved it and look at how rare that car is especially with remote mirror . Bobby you're doing a great job and I love it , thank you for doing that interview .
Beautiful Chevy Camaro my " Uncle bless his soul had passed and if could recall it had a RS Possible Z/28 on it recently I was told when it arrived on Guam it had a BBlock w/4Spd.10 Blt or a. 12 Blt not sure anyway, Car still around just need to check on VIN Mr.Jerrys Car So much alike
Love these driver interviews, Jerry Macneish and Dave & Ben Wenzel 67 Z28 are my favorite Stock Eliminator cars. Future interview with Dave & Ben Wenzel would be great.
Definitely. Keep the clutch setting just right and hit the gears “quick” rather than hard is my strategy. Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you could!
I bought an enclosed trailer from Ray Fairall in 1988. He and his crew loved to have a good time. Jerry "Mr. Z/28" is a friend as well......He is also a pretty talented musician.......drummer, guitar player.....and a good man....
Things that have to be accurate for year are the casting numbers, cid, carb and numbers, heads, port sizes, cam lift, valve sizes, corporate rear, correct hood, corporate trans unless stick shift then any 4 speed unless it came with a 5 speed.
Not Everyone is a FAN! I heard nothing but good things about this guy...Then, I wanted him to look at a Camaro I had purchased years ago and I still have. He told me he would look at it. NEVER did!! I asked him several times. What a mistake. I think he's an arrogant POS. After going to different car shows, it seems that many people have the same opinion. Character is everything!!
I’ve had pleasant encounters with Jerry so I do not know this to be true. Maybe he was busy or something came up but who knows. Thanks for watching and please subscribe to my channel if you could.
What do you mean by "look at"? For free? I know he used to charge people cash to verify a #'s matching car, etc. and evaluate it. Did you offer to pay him for his services, but he didn't want to do it?
I wish we would see boss 302 in class racing but I don’t know of any. I think they are factored too high by nhra. Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you could!
@@driverinterviews Exactly right. NHRA factored the '69-'70 Boss 302 Mustang higher because they had more actual HP than the '67-'69 Z/28 Camaro. Pure stock, they were quicker/faster than the Z/28. I bought an all options yellow '69 Boss 302 Mustang new from TASCA Ford in RI and I still have it. Ford Drag Team told me to increase the tire pressures in the rear Goodyear Polyglas tires for better traction and it worked. I then began doing low 13's and a few high 12's. Bob Tasca Jr gave me a few tips also. Different factory intake/exhaust manifold gaskets and simple adjustment changes to the distributer. Instead of leaving the start at 1000 rpm, I then had to launch at 3500-4000 rpm. Today, with drag radial tires, it does mid 12's consistently, although, I rarely ever race it anymore. Memorial Day Weekend 2021 and I'll be doing the same this year again in NH.
Lmao...then ya woke up & it was time to go to junior high.....Hey ya know why ya CANNOT fit a car seat in the back of a Mustang?? .....?.... ... .'Cause Two Dudes Can't Have a Kid Together!!!
@@Mr.CJohnson My dragstrip time slips prove otherwise. You implying that I'm gay? WRONG again, PUTZ. BTW, a child's car seat fit just fine in the back seat of my '69 Boss 302 Mustang. Your ignorance is of titanic proportions.
