Same here! Man this brings back good summer memories with a good friend of mine watching Smokey and Bandit 1 and 2 about every other day. No bullshit lol
Back in the early 2000s I was at little hole in the wall lunch spot outside Nashville and after getting my food in the cafeteria style line I searched for an empty able in the packed dining room. After wandering around for a minute or two a voice said "sit down right here, son". Low and behold it was Jerry Reid and the other guy sitting with us was Chet Atkins! I was so in awe and shook up I could barely keep my food on my fork. Both were friendly, kind, and gracious. I will NEVER forget that day.
@@JustBenInLA probably about 1999 or 2000. This was at the City Cafe. I also ran into Chet and his wife at Boston Market near there a year or so prior.
I ain’t sure what it was or how it happened, but a couple months back I watched Smokey and the bandit for the first time. And ever since then, I found myself slowly getting more confident in ole western style, got me a cowboy hat one day and that was it from there. Jerry reed had the type of confidence I want, and I’m getting there. May 28th 2024 I turned 21, got off work at 6AM and went to a loves gas station, got me a 12 pack of coors, when I left I started blasting this song with the windows down and couldn’t help but smile. Thank you Jerry reed and Burt Reynolds for helping me find myself.
The legendary Chet Atkins called Jerry the world's greatest guitarist. He could sing, wrote fine tunes, and was a terrific entertainer: the TOTAL package.
Meet him at a truck stop in Joplin, great person, asked him for a autograph and he replied " why the hell screw up a great conversation with that " God rest Jerry, I'll be listening as long as they play your music music music your
Son! You're spot on. He had a funky band as well. All could flat play and Reed was the epitome of talent. Sing, play, act, write, and rumor has it, he could haul bootleg beer faster than any cat from the 70s, 80s, or 90s.
I don't understand why 500 plus people gave this a thumbs down. When you can play and sing better than Jerry Reed you may give it a thumbs down, but you never will !!!!
Recently I had to spend a few nights in the hospital. I was watching Netflix on my phone late at night, watching "Smokey and the Bandit" when two nurses came in to check my vitals. Neither one had ever heard of the movie, Burt Reynolds, Sally Field or Jerry Reed. I never felt so old.
Back when Country music had some feeling and a purpose. I still own the Smokey and the Bandit sound track on cassette!!!! LOL!!! Was the first Cassette I ever bought after my 8-trak deck took a major poop!!!!! LOL!!!! That would have been 1979.
SNOWMAN!!! You got your ears on??? America is down here still listening to your beautiful music and movies!! Get Fred out of that eat up joint. rest in peace YOU HANDSOME DEVIL, 10-4
Outlaw Country at it's finest! Thank you for the memories, when it was all about good ole boy antics! 400 cases of Coors Beer! And all you needed was a CB radio, and a good convoy! Breaker Breaker channel 19 anyone?
Jerry Reed was an amazing talent...and it is notable that, in this live performance, his bandmate Kenny Penny was equal to the task during the dual guitar solo...an incredible amount of talent in that live band!
Back in 1976 (I think), my brother, another friend, myself were headed to Houston, TX. , and stopped at the Union 76 just before you get to Atlanta (I believe that's where the Best Buy is now). Anyhow, we got to see them film the scene where Jackie Gleason is in his car and it's jacked up and Burt Reynolds is at the gas pumps in that Firebird. If you look real close, there's a guy behind the window where they're talking to Jackie Gleason. That's my brother. He's wearing a tee shirt..
My uncle was in the movie, at the end sitting on the hay bails on the back of a flat bed, he always used to brag about that lol, and it was in Lakewood
So nostalgic. Jerry Reed was such a great musician and fun dude. I can't see this without 15 different emotions and crossing timelines back to 1977 when I saw SATB in the theatre at 12 years old.
Me 👍 when i play Need For Speed Most Wanted in the final pursuit stage i always put this song... This inspires more to get involved in a chase with the NFS Corvette undercover cars xD even in NFS carbón works too this Is a perfect pursuit song For NFS too
They just don't make'em like this any more! Always loved his music, even before Smokey & the Bandit. Liked him so much my youngest son is named Reed! Listening to this August 30, 2021
Robert Blakemore I grew up with country and rock. But I never appreciated how good the country artists were. If someone asks me now about great musicians I'll mention my rock legends but I'll also include the country greats too. Roy Clark especially is a legendary guitar player. Saw him just tearing it up on a 12 string ovation guitar. Incredible
I think few people realize Jerry was quite an accomplished guitar player since his affable "OH Shucks" persona was what he was know for in the movies . Just a good O'l Boy with a boatload of talent!
There’s no one in today’s country music that can even come close to what Reed was able to do. Jerry hey we’ve got a movie coming out do ya mind writing the theme song as well as most of the score? Beyond talented!
🤣 today’s “country n’ western”. What a joke, just like the rest of the other genres today (mostly), complete garbage that copy the sound of what sells. Damn shame, but there are a few artists out there that don’t subscribe to the executive’s will. I guess I am just pissy that great stuff ain’t main stream anymore.
@@olhesty2196 On point 100%. Today it's about how much musically an artist can fit in with the status norm, and how fake and narcissistic they can be off stage. Nothing progressive or new in music will ever form out of that.
Nick Aprill big 10 4 big trucking!, I've no idea what that means. I live in England and grew up in the early '80's with the Smokey and the Bandit ' Franchise. Got to love it!
