Jerry Rice and J. J. Stokes join Terrell Owens with whom he formed arguably the NFL’s all-time best receiving corps, from 1996 to 2000. The guys debate their “Big 3” superiority versus Hatch’s Randy Moss and Cris Carter-led Vikings and talk about what it was like playing with each other, Terrell’s transformation into T.O., how T.O. stole the spotlight on Jerry’s big day, the difference between catching passes from Joe Montana and Steve Young, the effect of playing college football at a small school, how current receivers stack up to them, their thoughts on the 2020 NFL Draft and the future of the 49ers, and more. With this lineup of receiving greats, this is one episode you had better catch! Yee!

Jerry Rice is the KING of yards after catch. That is why his total yardage was so high. Alot of receivers these days catch the ball and fall down to avoid the violent tackles. Almost every one of Jerry's catches included 5-20 yards after the catch. Its about the 10-15 short yard pass plays in space and the reciever must be elusive enough to gain another 5-15 more yards.

This one goes out to Hatch. Just to let you know I was at that game in 1999 at the Metrodome and Terrell was not dressed for that game I remember Jerry and JJ was in that game. 49ers didn't have Steve Young or Garrison Hearst for that game and it was Jeff Garcia's first year with Charlie Garner filling in for Hearst and remember Lawrence Phillips being a back up to Garner. The Vikings put 40 burger on our 49er team which the score ended up 40-16. The Metrodome was always a tough enviroment having to deal with that crowd and that horn but when the Vikings came to San Francisco they could not beat the 49ers.

This was the most difficult to defend receiving core that the NFL has ever seen because of the fact that Jerry Rice alone no one could single cover this guy the same could be said for T. O. as well who was Jerry's pupil and under study that was probably the best no 2 receiver that ever played along side Jerry and with out Jerry was definitely a no 1 receiver on any team in any decade with J.J. stokes in the slot with speed and size made this team a nightmare for secondary's would have won atleast 2 more super bowls easily if the tandem could have stayed together longer!

Like T.O just told him Hatch maybe part of the big 4 but not the big 3. Which the big 3 on Minnesota was Carter, Moss, and Reed. On the 49ers it was Rice, Owens, Stokes. But if you want to do a big 4 then it would be Jerry Rice, Terrell Owens, JJ Stokes, Tai Streets vs Chris Carter, Randy Moss, Jake Reed, Mathew Hatchet. But back in Jerry Rices day it Freddie Solomon, Dwight Clark, Jerry Rice, John Taylor. You think about it John Taylor and Jake Reed are pretty close in age and have almost the same stats as far as career receiving yards and touchdowns. Jerry Rice was Terrell Owens mentor and Chris Carter was Randy Mosses mentor. The Head coach Denny Green was a Coach under the great Bill Walsh so when Terrell said Jerry paved the way for everybody on the show thats no lie. The same for the Packers Mike Holmgren was under Bill Walsh as well which he brought that west coast Offense with him to Green Bay which you seen a mirror image of Brett Farve vs Steve Young.
