Got to agree mate. . the 'Scheff's' contribution to this classic was always massive,. . I have heard so many covers of this, and particulary 'vocal' wise so many fail spectacularly,. . this lad is great , one of the very few I would actually rate Jim would be impressed I think, as would Ray/Robbie/J.D. . .I am sure, great version lads !

Elvis was so great even his bass player is still selling out venues 30 plus years after Elvis died. I'd say he had a pretty great career. Morrison then Elvis isn't too bad .Good 4 him. He's still jammin

At 1.25 he stops playing but the bass continues, he is not "hammering on" You are right....thats talent! I don't know who is playing but it's NOT him....Sorry to shatter your illusions.

@lclaughton Actually, Jerry was just playing through one of them. At the 10th Anniv Lakland concert Dan had enough SVTs on stage so that Jerry, Bob Glaub, Duck Dunn, Joe Osborn and Daryl Jones could each use one. At the end, all of them played simultaneously backed by Tributosaurus the most incredible cover band I've ever seen. One SVT rig was auctioned off as part of a silent auction. It was a magical show!!!

Professional bass player Jeff Scheff celebrates his 80th birthday today {January 31st, 2021}... Mr. Scheff played bass on the Doors' 1971 album, 'L.A. Woman'... 'L.A. Woman' produced two Top 100 records, "Love Her Madly" {at #11} and "Riders On The Storm" {at #14}... He was a member of Elvis Presley's TCB Band from July 31st, 1969 to February 23rd, 1973, and again from April 24th, 1975 to June 26th, 1977 {Elvis' final concert , he passed away two months later on August 16th, 1977 at the age of 42}...

I'm a huge fan of Will Lee and friend way back in the day in Miami. We broke ourselves in on genuine Fender basses. He invited me backstage to one of the Dreams concerts where Uriah Heep (whatever that name means) were the top act. Will was using a Fender Jazz with some very heavy gauge copper wound strings as I recall? He's had so many endorsements and has equipment that by any measure is top of the line Sadowsky tailor made to fit his hands, adjust sound and EQ on the fly and a combination of a myriad of amps and pedals. Because he's top session guy he has all the stuff needed to do any and all things bass. That being said, I'm watching Jerry Scheff play on those huge Elvis shows in the mid-later 70's before he passed and he was pretty much stock Fender Precision through Music Man amps. His sound is HUGE and I prefer it over Lee's axes but Scheff's playing is wonderful at these monster events. No theatrics. Jes' TCB as Elvis would say.

@51362879
@51362879 7 лет назад
He recorded a lot with a Danelectro or a Jerry Jones (about the same thing. that's why his sig. Lakland is loaded with "lipstick tube" pickups. He likes the tone of them. But he said when on stage it was all but mandatory that he had to play a Fender- preferably a P bass. That's why when on stage with Elvis, the king would introduce him as 'Jerry Scheff 'on the Fender bass'
