WOW!!! Ive never heard of this guy. I am a white male, 33 years old, and love music like this. This guy is so amazing. I would put him up there with Sam Cook and David Ruffin. Fantastic post.
STUNNING! If ever a man lived up to his nickname...So cool, so smooth...yet, you could drown in the warmth of his soulful voice. A rare and precious beauty, indeed. Jerry is the epitome of Soul.
Effortless, seamless, timeless. Where has the singers gone. No one describes love like this anymore. I wish the young cats would pick tis up before the living legends are gone.
Whose with me listening to the iconic Jerry Butler? Still sounds good 👌 today in August 2021. I don’t know why this song brings tears to my eyes happy tears and precious memories. Thank you 🙏 Jerry Butler.
This was the song that was on during my dear wife's last hours.. That was 7 years ago and I still can't listen to the song without tears....For My Precious Love.

My friends and I were at the concert too. We stayed at the same hotel that Jerry Butler did. It was my friends birthday and she sent a note to his room to request that he sing "Never Gonna Give You Up" and right in the middle of the song he stopped to sing Happy Birthday to her. How Awesome was that?
Damn he's wonderful! Saw him at a nightclub in Tampa about 40 years ago. He was wonderful then and he still is. What a voice. What soul. The true meaning of soul. The Iceman!
i'm 63 and my husband is 64. my husband is a musician(flute, sax, vocals). he is now a music professor and chair of the fine arts dept. at a college here in san antonio. like lockring2., jerry means so much to us. Listen to this. About 5 years ago we got to meet jerry and his wife at o'hare airport-it was such an honor and the thrill of !!!!our lives to meet this great living legend!!!! thank you soso much for posting this!!!!!
Had a chance to see him here in Milwaukee at The Northern Light Theater. I was only 8 years old when we got our first 45 record, my father brought it, it was," He Will Break Your Heart' we only had the one record for about two weeks,we played that record everyday. All the children the younger ones and older knew every single word to the song. Hearing this song made me miss those days of us growing up at home with our parents. Miss u Mom, 5-14-1929- 12-16-1988 & Dad 10-17-1921-7-19-2011 R.I.P.
"FOR YOUR PRECIOUS LOVE" by "Jerry Butler" is just as "REFRESHING" today as it was when he first recorded it!! His "VOICE" IS SO SEXY, SMOOTH, AND ROMANTIC!! Sing the song!!
years ago, I often wondered the same thing, what would it be like to have Jerry Butler to sing this song for me, I can only imagine, I played this song everyday for 3 or 4 years, and still love it as much as I always did, and I will always love " the Iceman"! Dance with me Jerry!
Jerry "ICE MAN" Butler Thanks for being the Gentleman that you are, and Sharing this beautiful voice with us for over 60 years. You were blessed with a voice that gives people goose bumps to this day. We are blessed to be able to listen to you sing. Thank You Sir.
oh my God! I heard this song on A Bronx Tale and it is one of my favorite of the soundtrack. And I found Mr. Butler singing here on RU-vid... this man sings with the soul. Wonderful and lucky are the ones who could live those times and kiss and dance with your woman at this song.
This is one of many songs I love listening to. To many of his songs to mention, this is one my many favorite songs of his. I play this song often when I’m on the piano. But, with that smooth voice of his, no one can touch him or reach out to the soul of those whose listening to this.
I love all Jerry's songs. My favorite is still "let it be me" . Jerry and Betty Everett sang it. Betty has since passed on. They were Angels singing together.
Jerry has performed for the last 32 years (!!!) during Valentine's week at Blues Alley in Washington, DC. We saw him there in 2005 and sat near a couple in their mid-20's who were totally unfamiliar with his songs but decided to come see him after watching him on one of the Doowop shows on PBS. They really enjoyed him even though they were shocked to learn from me that "For Your Precious Love" came out in 1958. He is one of the all-time greats.
I remember many years ago when he walked out on the stage at valley forge music fair in PA. first time I saw him. wonderful!!!! still wonderful. love ya
Oh yes! He's also the Comissioner of Cook County (Chicago, IL) and an active member of Prince Hall Masonic Lodge North Star Lodge #1 as a Past Master, and a 33rd Degree Mason, in which I was a part of them prior to becoming a Full Scottish Rite Freemason and leaving the York Rite. He truly is a wonderful brother on and off stage!
