Charles Boone, in letters addressed to "Bones", describes the arrival of himself and his manservant, Calvin McCann, at Chapelwaite, the neglected ancestral home of Charles's estranged late cousin Stephen. Calvin learns that many people in the nearby Maine town of Preacher's Corners think Charles and Calvin are mad for living in the mansion. The house is said to be "a bad house" with a history of sad events, disappearances, and mysterious noises which Charles attributes to "rats in the walls". Calvin finds a hidden compartment in the library containing an old map of a deserted village called Jerusalem's Lot, a mysterious area the townsfolk avoid. Their curiosity piqued, Charles and Calvin set out to explore the village

When I was a kid I had this on cassette tape and I listened to it over and over again. Later in life I bought so many copies of this looking for this version. Once I heard that oboe music I was SO HAPPY to hear it again.

Am I the only one that think this short novela is so much better more creepy mysterious than Salem's Lot? I mean no bullshit long boring sentences about nothing particular only concrete horryfing creepy story when every word is exciting and important and vital to whole plot! Plus this creepy lovecraftian ancient Creature from hellish abyss! And the narrator is indeed genius! We do not get such original horrors nowadays ...Love and cheers from Poland fan to everybody! Thank You for this treasure radio drama! Take care!!! 🙏❤

This is literally my video file swiped from my old RU-vid channel. This is from MY audio cassette. Glad you saved it from my Suspended channel. This is a transfer from the very cassette I listened to as a child. The narrator is Colin Fox

Thank you so much for uploading this. This was available on another channel in a complete format total time about 129 minutes. This is the best reading I’ve ever heard of the story. Colin Fox is just stellar in this reading role. Thank you so much for uploading. I was absolutely heartbroken when the other one was taken down recently. Thank you again. 3:12

Ditto…. I love listening to this reading. I was saddened when it was taken down. The readers voice is so calming considering the story line is disturbing…. Do you think this is a longer version? I feel like I am listening to some parts I never heard before.

No, this is the precise version that was uploaded in its full format. It probably seems longer because you have to listen to it in instalments. And finding each instalment and then saying it probably gives it a feeling of extensive when it’s not. There are other versions of the story, or should I say was in the writers that read the story for sale just awful in comparison. I wish I could buy this version on Audible or Apple.

There was a series made of this but it was loosely based. Robert Eggers, who is currently doing a remake of Nosferatu and directed the Witch and The Lighthouse would make a fine director if he sticks to the book. Btw anyone who enjoys this Stephen King short story would love these movies. Start with the Witch.
