Pewsey has mixed feelings....Micky "Doo" Lay is no longer with us, but Pewsey is as much the village in the play as ever....I was honoured to see Mark Rylance reprieve the role this year, and it was the best thing I have ever seen.
I was so lucky to see Jerusalem a few weeks ago. Watching this conversation is such a treat - Mark Rylance is a great soul and advocate for mystery and meaning in life.
I know he had to cut the revival shot because his brother died. I hope he can return to it again. It is HIS Falstaff. I can see him coming back to it many times, in fact the older he gets the more appropriate it is that he plays it...
I went to see it last Saturday - enjoyable from the off, the poignancy of the middle and particulalrly the end has struck me, and has struck with me. An incredible experience and performance.
