At age 84, legendary director Jerzy Skolimowski has directed one of his spryest, most visually inventive films, following the travels of a peripatetic donkey named EO. After being removed from the only life he’s ever known in a traveling circus, EO begins a journey across the Polish and Italian countryside, experiencing cruelty and kindness, captivity and freedom. Skolimowski imagines the animal’s mesmerizing journey as an ever-shifting interior landscape, marked by absurdity and warmth in equal measure, putting the viewer in the unique perspective of the protagonist. Skolimowski has constructed his own bold vision about the follies of human nature, seen from the ultimate outsider’s perspective.

Just saw "Eo" for the second time (in theatres). This film is tender, loving, horrifying and breathtaking. I was left in tears at both screenings. I am constantly thinking of "Eo," his serendipitous life, his humility...thank you for this deeply spiritual experience.

Brilliant! I love that the interviewer did not interrupt the director and the writer while they spoke. From their answers to the two questions, it's clear the passion both have for their film. And over a 20 year period, I've watched Au Hassard Balthazar and now I can't wait to watch EO.

Just seen the film in Tourino, in the city of cinema and after visiting the impressive cinematography collection in this fantastic city. As there were no movies with english subtitles in already the 2nd cinema that I've visited, I was informed about one foreign movie played at this moment in my native language. And it happened to be a great movie! 🎬 thanks

There is enough similarities with Au Hasard Balthazar by French film maker of 60s Robert Bresson. Even the last scene in the Bresson's film the Balthazar mingles with a herd of sheep... Here EO unintentionally gets into a herd of cows being taken to the slaughter house... Both are amazing films...
