Jesca Hoop - Memories Are Now [FULL ALBUM STREAM] 

This album has spent more time on my turntable than any 3 other albums combined so far this year. Even with those listens at home, I still find myself streaming it here in RU-vid a few times a week. So much to love about Jesca's music.

I've unfortunately never heard of her before yesterday until I listened to this album. This is amazing, as of now my favourite album of this year for sure. Pegasi is my favourite song, it's astounding. Now I'll go listen her previous works!

I'm very surprised that this only has a few views. This is really good music. Just heard of Jesca a few days ago and I'm pleasantly surprised.

Opinions are opinions. I think this album's amazing. It's so original, you just never know where she's going to go with her voice.

I found Jesca just after her very first album ever! I have no idea how I discovered her, I don’t remember!!

love most of it, there are one or two songs I kind of had a meh reaction to - but there were some real beauties to offset that.

2017's promising well

Both primaeval and modern at once. This is an inspired artist with a startling vocal range that she uses, in combination with gutsy guitar work, to explore infinite instrumental possibilities adding real depth to her song craft. Fresh as water from a spring but also as dry as bone in a desert. Survival and tolerance for our fellow human as well planet are the themes here and this artist is fearless at confronting them. If you cross one, it is as if you sleight the other - the 'blues' will always catch you in the undertow! She uses this canon lovingly. There is definitely a sense of time and place reflected in this recording. I appreciate the balance, heaviness when the songs want to rock, the subtle use of electronics and the live takes. But it is that voice that lifts the veil.

Good stuff. She's working that indie angle from the Americana/Folk angle like Fleet Foxes do. There's one song on here where her voice reminds me of Taylor Swift I think. If more of the songs were like the title track, I feel like this album would be more special. I like the sounds on here, all very soothing and sweet. I like tracks 1, 3, 8, 9. I don't really like track 2 and the track where she's singing about "rock of ages" (the song goes on for too long). I'm definitely liking the album, can't say I love it, tho.

Hmm... granted I do normally only like a few songs of even my favorite artists... but none of these struck me as great feats of writing like "Tulip" or "Born to" did :(

Wow, really enjoyed her music, until I read her lyrics and listened to her interview with Paste magazine. It’s disappointing to hear her blame religion on everything wrong with the world today. Direct quotes from her interview: “I’m confronting people who are not willing to admit that the “one God” idea is at the root of all evil.” “And to deny all the other gods, or to identify yourself as a group, separate yourself from the others, is at the very root of everything we experience as crisis in this day and age.“
