Roland Garros - I hope you take note that the extended highlights have (at time of writing) more than 4x the views of your usual ultra-truncated highlights of the same match
Oh my God! who si De Jong and where has he been hiding? He is just not a push over. He didnt win this match but i will still congratulate him. He played so well
This De Jong is very good, poor guy doesn't have proper economical support to tour seriously (he said that) and now he will be able to gather the resources to do it. I hope so, because he is no joke and deserves proper support.
He is definitely a talented player with good ball striking and good hand and not afraid to come forward. Matches like this happen often in tennis, a guy with absolutely nothing to lose find himself in a big scenario and is capable of loosening up, enjoy the moment and find their best tennis. He gave an amazing fight to nonetheless than Alcaraz and put on a great performance. The reality is that he has played mainly Challenger tournaments and I think just once in all of them he has been able to reach a quarterfinal. Seeing him playing like today makes you think he should dominate the Challenger tour and be inside the top 50. Hopefully this match gives him tons of confidence to believe in his game, to keep working hard and start raising in the ranking because he has the potential, he just needs to find it regularly.
Good job from both. Carlos is definitely rusty after not playing three important clay tournaments. I don't know that he will get far playing like this. Nevertheless I wish him good health and just hope he can play with the full strength of his forehand soon. The power on his forehand is not fully back. It showed a lot in this match. He has to play better because he has a tough draw. All the best to him.
Tsitsipas,Zverev,Ruud,Rublev,Rune, all of them are stronger than Medvedev on clay,he lost 4 or 5 times in the round here and never been farther than 1/4 at RG.
I would rather put Zverev, Ruud and Rublev in the top 3 favourites. Alcaraz and Sinner maybe if they've recovered, Djokovic not if he doesn't improve his form.
If De Jong manages to improve his backhand, he could easily reach the top 30. His forehand is consistent and powerful. When he avoids his backhand too often, such as during this match, his game is vulnarable
@@harrysnateraar135 I am used to doing it with split screen with the draw, and then copy paste and remove names for R16, QF, SF and Final. It is shorter than people generally assume. 🙂
How does De Jongs set point not make it to the extended highlights? The highlight of his career so far, but we'd rather watch Alcaraz hit a nice winner for the millionth time? Strange.
I always wonder who is doing these highlights, and why you're always skipping the most crucial moments of the match (e.g. breakpoints, set points), showing some worthless moment like 15-30 net points instead...
@8:32 notice how Carlos is barely taller than De Jong who is 180cm tall. Confirms that he is closer to 182cm than 183cm (which is the inch rounded height shown on his ATP tour profile)!
@janparchanski9242 yes but I have been cross referencing with tons of footage, especially against the 183cm players (Gasquet, DeMinaur, Ruud) who are rounded in inches, and by now I got pretty good cross-referencing to be confident about 182.
@@orwell9579 it's because they round to the next inch before converting to cm so usually when it says a particular size it can still be 1.4cm above or below the stated size. So the shortest he could be is 181,61cm.
Mostly because de Jong has troubles playing at this high pace so he doesn't have enough time to hit the balls back with enough depth. You often see this happen when number onehundredsomething meets top 10. Good match though. He gave Carlos a good fight.
New generation has come. I don't care how De Jong played. But I'm sure he was good but Nadal couldn't lose a third set 2-6 against the world no. 176. So without Nadal (and Federer and Djokovic as well) tennis will be worse.
