In 2016, at age 20 years and 357 days, Jesper Svensson defeated Mitch Beasley to become the youngest player to win the PBA Tournament of Champions. The previous record was set 40 years earlier when Marshall Holman won the 1976 PBA Tournament of Championship at age 21 years, 207 days.

+Darren Goh.. This is very rare being that for some reason, good bowlers have incredibly large Ego's.. I will never understand why someone good at bowling would have a large Ego lol.. Maybe a 6-time NBA Champion or 6-Time Super Bowl Champion worth Millions of dollars, but not a Bowler lol

Mike Harkins in its heyday bowling was the most popular and most watched sport in america. Its fallen off sure but to be one of the best in the world at anything comes with a bit of ego I would imagine.
@BrandonP43
@BrandonP43 6 лет назад
Mike Harkins you don’t understand. Bowling isn’t about money, it’s about pride. That’s why they’re so cocky. And it’s not just about revs because you can still leave a 9 pin with 600 revs. Jesper did it in this match. And I’ve seen plenty of people with close to 500 revs leave pocket 7-10s and get shit leaves when they make bad shots. The pins fall the same way of you throw it hard or not. That’s why low rev players get messengers too.
6 лет назад
+m p.. No, it is def about money, or else no one would go on tour. But yes it is also about pride,, but having pride and being an egotist are 2 different things. Many bowlers have massive ego's and are incredibly self-absorbed. Many great bowlers have great pride but do not act like conceited assholes.

6 лет назад
+Laim P.. "Makes bowling what it is today"... What, a joke? lol.. Bowling is a terrible product and the game is incredibly flawed at the moment. Hopefully you can be here to see bowling go back to how it used to be, which was an actual challenge and not have advantages for only power players who throw 2-handed. I still love bowling and will always bowl, but doesnt mean I agree with how the game has changed over time. Not all advancements are good. But yeah, since you are new, do yourself a favor and throw 2-handed lol
@Mark-sj3xb

These two hander crankers are making this a young mans game and these guys are gonna have back problems before they are 35 and then won't know how to bowl with less torque in their older years. This is a freaking circus of idiocy. There's a special place in bowler purgatory for these types that are ruining the sport.
6 лет назад
Mark .. its the pba and the ball manufacturers.. They want the game to look more appealing visually and they think by allowing house bowlers to strike a lot itll up sales.. Stats show this is not the case. The game needs to go back to being a real challenge and it needs to be fair for all styles.

I love how people are criticizing bowlers and saying it’s a joke but it’s not an easy sport by any means, you can’t just walk into a bowling alley and bowl a 900 series or even a 300 game without having a lot of experience and practice.. most league patterns are designed to be forgiving to an extent but try bowling on the scorpion, don carter, wolf, any of the pba patterns. They’re a lot less forgiving which is what makes bowling as challenging as it is

2-handed effect. Its why so many people have a problem with it. Not that its his fault he found a weakness in todays bowling. As long as we are using incredibly strong equipment and using these types of oil patterns, power bowlers will reign supreme.. A traditional stroker just cannot compete with the carry and power a 2-hander has.. This is why out of the 3 greats(Norm, WRWJ, Weber) Weber is the only one still hanging with the young ones because out of those 3, he has the most power and rotation.

First of all on a positive note, this is THE MOST POWERFUL top 5 modern day I've ever seen. Daugherty, Tackett, Svensson, Jason "The Major Annihilator" Belmonte and Beasley rounding off the field. Randy Pedersen is still annoying!! "Young gun revolution." There's absolutely no reason at this level of competition in any sport should you be afraid or worried. A little nervous? Yes, it shows you're Human. If you say you don't get nervous, you're lying!! The way Pedersen was talking about Jesper sounds like he was having multiple orgasms and he couldn't shut the fuck up about, "urethane." Also the, "double follow thru" has become a, "must have fundamental" as demonstrated by Beasley. It indicates a fluid and free swing, David Ozio did that very well. The way Mitch does it, forced and unnecessary and quite honestly annoying. The man can bowl but that forced follow thru needs to go. And if it wasn't for a change in the tournament rules as of 2010-2011 he wouldn't be a competitor in this event. I wouldn't have wanted to be the tourney leader however, the most difficult spot to win from. $50,000 for a prestigious major is some major, "BULLSHIT!!" Allegedly that's supposed to change with Bowlero's purchase of the PBA tour.

+Larry Sanders.. This is the TOC pattern bro.. It isnt as simple as moving right. There is a reason he was standing in front of the ball return. Look up the TOC pattern and how it breaks down and you will see why people move so far left when the pattern breaks down. The only chance he would have had moving right would have been if he went Urethane. But Urethane is really hard to predict at times and it doesnt always carry well. Svensson is a rare case in that he has a lot of push, power and rev, and he is lefty so the pattern does not break down so easily so Urethane is much more controllable for him.

Did you even watch the video? The commentators mentioned it multiple times. The right side of the left lane was rendered worn and uneven after so many matches, and would behave peculiarly.
