I've never heard DAZN pronounced as Da-Zone! I never thought it might be an abbreviation, I always thought it was just D-A-Z-N 😀. An educational moment for me. I love watching matches on DAZone, they have all the big European women's games, as well as the UWCL. Great service for a fan of the women's game, as is this podcast!
@@landryharrell7 Really? That's odd, I watch it through my computer's browser, and other than being required to sign up for an account and sign in, I've never had any difficulty watching games on there. Though, to be honest, I've only watched women's soccer, I don't know if the other sports on there require some fee.
What a great discussion. I have been aware of Ms.Fishlock seemingly forever. She deserves so much respect for her thoughtful approach to the game and her mad skills on the field. Many thanks!
I loved the discussion around first games and the "Shit, I'm not ready for this, I'm not at this level". That's the way you grow (I'm not an athlete, I'm a musician, and this is the "damn, I'm the worst player on the bandstand" situation... which is really where you want to be)
The Red Stars' 2013 venue in Jess's story was Benedictine University Sports Complex in Lisle, IL. (The high school field was FCKC's Shawnee Mission District Stadium, a high school stadium in Overland Park, KS.)
Sam, you called jess old 😮. She is so cool and open. What a surprise to find out so much more about her story 👏. I live in Seattle and I'm just getting more knowledge about the players so I appreciate your interview style. Congratulations on your honor of your jersey being celebrated. ❤ The channel
Love Fishlock! Seattle Reign fans love our tiny dragon. 🐉 Great interview, Sam. Your thorough research and thoughtful and personal questions make these so special. 💜
I really appreciate your channel and your expertise on football! As someone who has been unable to compete in my sport due to illness. I can relate to your story. I miss Snacks, but this is equally awesome!
I can’t remember what podcast it was last summer but it was during the WWC and it was like 2 games in for USWNT, and someone talked to Jess about what the issue was for the US team and she spoke about them needing to change their formation and she was RIGHT, they ended up doing exactly what she said they needed to do lol im not sure if anyone remembers that but she was like Coach Jess- a tactical genius. I feel like someone send this pod to Vlatko!!! I bet she coaches Wales national team one day she is GENIUS level when it comes to the game
Yay you’re going to be in London next week, does that mean we’ll get a little bit of Kristie content? Maybe it’s just me but I feel like KMew has been a bit MIA ever since going across the pond. We definitely miss her in the NWSL.
I am so happy Sam and the team are back producing amazing content! It is such a highlight to the week. i'm going to have to start driving for a new job and i'm so excited to listen to this especially on the way home after a long work day - it's such a nice change of mindset.
Wow! Great episode! It was crazy hearing about everything they had to go through trying to qualify for the world cup. So emotional, great to hear her perspective…. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Sam is a fantastic interviewer & Jess is a great interviewee. But kudos to Sam for asking such insightful questions. I am new to the sport, so your podcasts have been a great way to learn about the game & the awesome women athletes who play it. Thank you Sam!
Hello Sam. My county, famous for those puddings you like, has almost twice as many people as Wales. It is always a challenge for them, but you have to admire the spirit any Welsh team play with. If you listen to the crowd belting out their anthem, you will get it. I often watch the men's football team on the Welsh language channel, as it is likely to be an exciting game, though for some years you might have thought Welsh had "bale" in any sentence, if this was all the Welsh you heard. You could say "Wales" and "courage" fit in the same sentence? Well done on your Courage award and another great chat with an interesting guest.
Loved this, but why were the last 5-6 minutes of the interview with Jess cut? I really appreciated hearing them in the audio-only podcast, and I wanted to see them in the RU-vid video. Partly bc then I can read lips on video and better understand some more of what Jess is saying (lol), but also bc I wanted to see Sam’s face/reaction to all the nice & spot-on things Jess was saying about Sam at the end of the episode!
"oh, god, no!" I understand. I too, love my family, but the chance to move away for my own career completely overwhelmed that. I didn't even have to think about it.
OK Jess, a Wendy's single with cheese add the Wendy's Hot Sauce, perfect American trash food that hits! Fishlock is one of the women footballers who I follow no matter with whom she plays for, so much respect for her game smarts and for her personality. Rarely do I see an interview with Jess when I do not learn something about the game and feel her joy talking about it. The way her face lit up when picking her dream 11 was adorable.
I’m not judging Jess but growing up in Seattle and having left 8 years ago, there’s so much food I miss. The Pink Door, Michou, so so many chinese places, Biscuit Bitch. For her to pick Wendy’s that I can get here in Indiana no problem is so surprising. 😂
As someone who is happily single, I both congratulate you and pass you sympathy for being married to a coworker. You get to be together more, but you also can't get away. 😆
