7:28 The disconnect occurs because resource geologists are much better at modelling and utilising software than they are at geology. With rare exceptions, resource geos usually end up in the role because they prefer office work and don’t have good technical or field skills. They also tend to only look at the assay results and pay far less attention to the logged geology. Many’s the time I’ve been astounded by models that have little bearing upon reality despite taking the resource geo down into the pit to show them what’s going on.
I really agree with your opinion, and many geologists on a particular commodity force themselves to do work that is not in accordance with their experience... just based on quality data, QAQC procedures, etc., without understanding the main concept of exploration for each commodity will be different, the results and recording data from the field.
