Jesse Marlow: Street Photography with the Leica Q (Typ 116) 

One of the most important concept you brought out that resonates the most in your video and about street photography ; is that your suppose to take the picture by not imposing yourself on the subjects space... this is so true, as a street photographer, I have seen 100s of street photographers with their 70-200mm (you know who I’m talking about...hey you with the zoom lens...) pathetically impose themselves into the subjects space, even with a zoom lens (these are the photographers that don’t know how to use a zoom lens, they literally poke the lens into the subjects face...) that’s why Leica is the perfect street photography camera. I had a M6 but put it away when digital was slowly being recognized as the game changer in taking pictures, now with the Q, I decided to fall back on my skills as a street photographer by not imposing myself, the shutter function is a great tool of silent shooting....great video ..

This is the reason why I love this camera. Leica is the place where tech and art meet...

The video is done so aesthetically beautiful. The voice over was in perfect sync. The slo-mo added required amount of drama. Overall 100% satisfied watching this. Yet, I can't believe 61 weirdos would unlike something so beautiful. I can't even imagine any reasons to unlike this. Anyway :)

I can test the Q in about a month at my local store that is having a Leica street photography day. Can't wait but also probably going to hate the fact I can't afford it afterwards :P

Nice video, cool camera but 28mm is a little too wide for the kind of street shoots I like.

What is the current max flash sync speed? 1/500s or 1/2000s? (From my understanding, the Q has a leaf shutter, so it should be able to sync at all shutter speeds)

Leica are the best always

I do not use viewfinder, and simply hold Q with one hand and shoot away at any positions. I can really steal lots of candid moments, as people don't notice or think I am just checking my camera. The very act of holding the camera to your eye level scare many people, as they know that you are taking pictures. Anyway, I am not conventional.

What about the photographers that have great talent but are poor and can't buy a 5000$ camera? And of course I am not talking about me. I would love to use one, but this is about the chance of really having your camera. Sad to see this commercial value being more important than than the moral - model - art-quality value.

Too expensive for the quality, user friendly functions and handing. This is kind like luxury stuff. You could spend 4000dollars on dslr pro with lens.

Street shooting is a waste of the camera. Just personal opinion.

Its an overpriced Panasonic camera.28mm is in my opinion also too wide for sf.The crop function is useless too, you can do it in post, its the same.Basically this camera is for folks who want a Leica but cant afford a M.Dont get me wrong, nothing bad about being on a budget.And in the end, not a Leica makes an artist, its what this person does makes him an artist.
