Not an attorney but have to read & analyze lots of documents. Typically if someone comes up to you with something, they have the main parts highlighted, so you don't have to read the whole report. So indeed it takes just a few glances.

1. They're lawyers. They know their stuff and are looking for keywords and specifics... So generally speaking for a "normal" contract they just need a glance 2. Typically the important stuff is always highlighted in some sort of way. So again, they just need a glance

It always bugged me that they would believe a name partner at a major law firm in Manhatten couldn't come up with half a million dollars for chemo treatment for his dying wife without having to steal from his clients. I'm not buying it.

@@Dynasty1818 Harvey was a junior partner, not a name partner, and if you remember the next scene, he hands Jessica the check and says he's had the money since he set his sights on making senior partner, so he's had it for a while.

That's because he wasn't really using the money for his wife's cancer treatments. He was using the stolen money to cover up an affair he was having.

Jessica should have turned Daniel in, rather than letting him go easy. The amount of times that Hardman came back to haunt Harvey and the others was frustrating to see. Hardman is like a snake, by keeping it alive you give it chances to bite back when you least expect it.

Remember, snakes are notorious for being hard to deal with. Even if you cut off its head, you have to bury it so deep that its fangs can never reach anyone again, because a snake's venom last longer than its own life.

@@Baun92 I thought it was because a) he wasn't spending it on his wife's treatments. She was sick, but he was actually funding a high cost affair for a year. b) he didn't want his own personal finances tied to his affair because then they could be traced. Credit card statements, bank transfers... even moving his money off shore would raise an eyebrow with his accountant who might report it to his wife. This way, his finances aren't suspicious on paper and his plan was for Louis to take the blame, but Harvey figured it out. Yes, Hardman is THAT bad.

Been watching clips from this show for a few days now. The one thing that would fix 99% of their problems, and the one thing these morons haven't figured out yet, is to STOP KEEPING SECRETS FROM EACH OTHER! If Hardman had just spoken up about his wife's condition when it was discovered, I have no doubt that everyone would have tried to help him. Instead, everyone on this show "doesn't want to say anything" because "reasons". Usually because they're trying to one-up each other. Absolutely ridiculous. This firm is the definition of a toxic work environment.

Yes - a very toxic work environment. To paraphrase a comment I saw on another Suits clip: 1. Person A storms into Person B's office. 2. Cussing/name calling/arguing ensues. 3. Person A storms out of Person B's office, often at the order from Person B for Person A to get out.

They get more than that in bonuses alone every year. Not to mention what they make during the year. I love this show but they should have used a bigger number. Later in the series Donna hands Harvey a check for that like it's nothing and she's a secretary

yes but he did not take it from the firm took it from clients, not the firm it is a big difference and those are the clients that hired firm for legal help that is why it was so bad and wrong

Early days of a firm. Considering this was really early in Harvey's career. This is something that Jessica might be lucky to pull in a year. Harvey likely was making close to $200K at this time. Also, you can't move money in and out of the books for long before the clients realize what is happening. $500K is not small to hide when it's the billables from clients. A year is a lengthy time, meaning it likely will blow up in their faces soon. Law firms receive retainers for the services they provide. Hardman was likely taking from retainer money that doesn't even cover into everyone's wages yet. Senior partner buy-in is half a million at Pearson / Hardman at the time.

If I had the opportunity to safe my dying wife by stealing half a million dollars, I'd do it too. However, if I remember right, he wasn't using the money to safe his wife. He was cheating, and the money had to do with that somehow.
