Here's a version of Jessica singing I Say Little Prayer, which I just reedited so the video would process better on RU-vid, and I realized the audio is the best of several versions up on RU-vid. It seems that whole show can't be found anywhere now. Jessica Sanchez - I Say A Little Prayer - Michael Feinstein at the Rainbow Room - Oct 31, 2014 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5_1YFv7HX-U.html
I also really liked her performance of *I Surrender* on America's Got Talent when she was 11: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_Js98_CWXSo.html
I wonder how Ms. Regine honestly evaluates Jessica’s singing style. Of course to all of us Jessica is one of the BEST internationally. But as far as I remember Ms. Reg has always criticized singers who use the growling technique no matter how good they are to a normal person’s ears.
@@jeffrueco4137 She had that growl by the time she was 11 years old, as demonstrated here in *I Surrender* on the first season of *America's Got Talent* : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_Js98_CWXSo.html
For traditional singers, of course they criticize others using growling technique claiming it's vocally damaging. But I think contemporary singers give more exceptional performance on international level like Jessica and KZ Tandingan. Morissette, for example, apart from she can hit whistle notes, uses vocal fry, intentional voice breaks, squeaks, growling, and others (which are unconventional for traditional and opera singers), because it's her own way of expressing herself/the song, and it adds more emotion in conveying the message of the song. It can really be damaging to the voice if done improperly, too frequently (idk about Christina Aguilera lol), or without any vocal warm-up. Artists with the influence of gospel music like Patti Labelle, Jennifer Hudson, Beyoncé, Yolanda Adams, also incorporate growling on their singing. Aretha Franklin had been in the industry for a very long time and growling didn't take its toll on her voice, and so could have Whitney if it wasn't for some reason (stress & addiction). IMO, they don't have to criticize others just because it doesn't work best for them or it wasn't the way they're taught to.
@@FernandoLopez-wk3dh Just rereading this thread. I think my pun about Regine's yowling technique was funny. On the other hand, Regine's protégé, Jona Viray, does not have a yowling technique, but has a very distinctive and substantial tone, which she uses in both the softer and louder parts, along with a nice head voice, to convey emotion, as opposed to using squeaks and growls.
Somebody has blacked balled this gorgeous beautiful soul. She supposed to be in the mainstream like her pipes are damn near killing Queen Bee 🐝 and I love some QB!!!
Maybe because she doesn't want to sing the original like how it was originally arranged? The original has an old school arrangement and has very long sustain notes. Maybe she doesn't want to force herself too much on live performances.
Seriously, I think the problem is when she does her official and studio stuff, she does mostly covers and uses Autotune, Melodyne, or whatever. So she doesn't showcase her strengths. She should stop listening to so-called audio engineers and studio people, and do some musical theater, soul singing or whatever genre without vocal effects. Yes, there is too much reverb in this video, but that's not pitch correction and doesn't create pitch correction artifacts.
@@caryreynolds1176 I'm not so sure lang ha but I think Idol Philippines channel uploaded it, I remember it has many views, but glad i found this video again thanks sa pag upload po.
@@sjc8616 I'm pretty sure the Idol Philippines channel did not upload it. The one that had like 170,000 views, or maybe more, was a third-party channel,

Baby, what happened to you? Before, in the beginning, I could feel you feeling the songs. You told me stories that broke my heart, and others that made it smile. But the ones I loved most. Were the ones that made me sigh deeply when they ended. Things turn different when you sing for the money. Don't they? Money, and wealth change the sweetest things into something unrecognizable. I am saddened.
Magaling sila pareho. Subjective lang preferences ng tao. Like I would prefer her version kasi makapal at raspy which is more Jennifer Holiday-ish pero ang ke Regine naman malinis and her own version naman.
i disagree with you bro, ived watched rimar version, frankly her vocal destroying my eardrum. The latter is pretty good, the groowwwwl inside is just overrated plus the vocal technique is in from the next level bro INCOMPARABLE !
LOLL THEN YOU JUST HAVE FANATIC IDOL MOMENTS AND DONT KNOW WHAT TECHNIQUE IS ALL NEEDED FOR THIS KIND OF SOULFUL SONG !!!! 😂😂😂 RIMAR WAS SQUEAKING LOL HAHAHAHAHA
